Bolt 7032496 Off-Vehicle Coupler Lock for use with Ford, Lincoln & Land Rover Side Cut Keys

Very easy to use and does what it is designed to do.

Many similar products available, but the convenience of using the vehicle ignition key is priceless! I use several Bolt lock devices when towing. All are very conveniently keyed to my truck's ignition key. I only wish they also had a trailer boot lock. That's the one security device that I have to have a separate key for.

To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when I bought this. It looked like to me that you could just twist this thing off and be gone with my boat in no time. Glad I was wrong! This thing is a tank. And because the pin going through it is stainless steel and 5/8" thick there is no easy way someone is going to twist/bend off the lock part. Go online and look at videos for this product line. Crazy strong! And no it doesn't just twist off either. The U bolt comes down far enough that it doesn't move easily that much at all. And with it being all thick steel for each part that is painted Red or Black you would be messing with it for some time before you would be able to cut through it. Yes, nothing is perfect in the end. If a thief wants what you have this thing on and have long enough to try and cut it off they are going to get it no matter who's product you use....but this one to date is the best one I've owned after owning too many others. AND the key hole is protected like your car door trunk is along with the rubber cup that goes on it from the very outside....so hoping that it won't get weathered and hard to turn the lock like every other product I've purchased to date after having for a couple years.

This product is great. I travel with my trailer a lot so having something sturdy, visible, and easy is pretty important for me. This device is all three.Is this theft proof is probably your question looking through the reviews, the answer is a resounding no. BUT, it makes one hell of a theft Deterrent.This product is unique in its shackle and shape making It looks very sturdy *which it is but I could absolutely still steal your trailer with this on it* it's bright red and makes loads of noise if you start prying/cutting/smashing at this device and with it being unique known destructive methods are not as cut and dry as other devices, this means more risk which in turn means less theft attempts, less damage to your trailer, and honestly that's all you really need.I do think there needs to be a way to rekey this device, if you trade cars you will have to either keep a key or buy a new lock, it's not like this is done to make it more secure as you could put the reset device inside the lock barrel. I'm sure it's toted as a security feature but it's more likely just not something they care to engineer or believe the extra pieces would add to points of failure.That said would I buy this again? Absolutely this thing rules.

Heavy material and well made overall!! I like that it is keyed to my vehicle and the other locks I purchased from them. It is not hard to work with but having it be 3 separate pieces (plate, strap and lock/pin) is a little bit of a pain. Also it is not the tightest fit and the ball lever can be released from under the strap creating a possibility of removing the device if someone is dedicated to taking what belongs to you. So if you are going to be using multiple key matched locking devices like I am it is awesome! As a stand alone item, meh, I'd go with something traditional.

So nice to have tow vehicle key work on the lock. Also can run the pin through your safety chain links to shorten them so that someone can't just drag your trailer off with your safety chains.

I love the Bolt products. Being able to use my truck key for my tow accessories is wonderful. I have a few of these so I have experience in knowing that they hold up to weather very well. This coupling lock is easy to use. Easy to put on and take off and the bet part is it uses your truck key.

Ithought at first it would be janky, but it proved itself. i found dents in the top strap one morning. looked like someone tried to beat it off. it didnt budge.

I have a highly potential theft target of a small trailer with a full gasoline fuel tank parked in my rural yard I needed to protect. I researched many trailer locks, watching many online video's of successful attacks of the many popular cheap coupler locks. I eventually came across the Bolt coupler lock system. There were also some other very good coupler locks also available, however they were at minimum triple the cost of the Bolt coupler lock. This lock is very robust and a very simple in design and function all for great value in regards to the price. In fact the Bolt coupler lock is priced very similar to many of those cheap locks which took only seconds to defeat.One online video showed several honest attacks on the Bolt coupler lock using a sledge hammer, a reciprocal metal cutting saw, and a crowbar, all which had each individually defeated several other popular coupler locks in only seconds. The attack on the Bolt lock was stopped after more than 6 tiring minutes with the lock only being slightly damaged. The saw blade was ruined, the thief was exhausted but the Bolt coupler lock was still intact and still protecting the trailer. That sold me on this lock and I purchased it. Now that I have it on my trailer, I feel very good about my decision to purchase. This is a well designed heavy duty coupler lock.I combined the Bolt coupler lock along with a Kryptonite lock with a 5 ft heavy square chain through one wheel and around the underneath frame on the trailer effectively preventing the wheel from turning. I'm sure a determined thief could eventually defeat both these locks in time, but only after an extended period of time and a potential lengthy and noisy activity drawing way too much attention to themselves. I am confident this Bolt coupler lock along with the wheel lock will act as an effective deterrent to 98% of those opportunistic trailer thieves who happen to find my trailer.The lock read my Toyota Tacoma truck key exactly as described and is working perfectly using my trucks key. I would without hesitation recommend this solid simple trailer coupler lock to anyone.

Easy to “program”, extremely handy to reduce keys. The older i get, the less keys I want to worry about. Manufacturer does have a “loyalty” program and offers solutions when you do decide the change vehicles

This is the second BOLT lock I have purchased for my vehicle - I also have the receiver pin lock. Key learning worked great, heavy duty construction feels secure. Being able to use the vehicle key means less keys on the key chain.Although it does not seem like an issue I will comment that my trailer has an ergonomic handle which is a slightly different coupler lever design from the pictures. The design allows for some minor lever movement on my trailer however I'm still confident that the lever movement is sufficiently restricted.
