Trangia 27-1 GB Aluminium Cookset with Gas Burner, Complete Camping Cookware and Stove Set for Hiking, Backpacking, Fishing

Took this for a spin for 14 days tramping - brilliant bombproof set. Took the advice of other reviewers that the hardanodised pans were worth spending a bit more becasuse they are much easier to clean, and they certainly were easy - a real bonus when trying to clean off porridge with cold water (and freezing fingers!). The stove is very easy to control and pretty fast to boil because of the enclosing stand - I had worried that meths took ages and lots of fuel, but that was not the case - it was fast. Half a litre of meths cooked us more than a week's food. I think the whole set was lighter than the equivalent amount of kit with gas canisters, and packed smaller. We ditched the kettle - really cute and I bet it boils fast, but we wanted to save weight and the pans can boil up easily fast enough. A great price for the set anyway. The pans are very neat - note they are 1 litre to the very brim, so you can only boil maybe 800ml, but we found this set perfect for 2.

- Outstanding wind shield, makes it more efficient than a Jetboil (when using Trangia gas burner)- Not keen on aluminium pots & pans but that's not what I bought this product for, so that's fine. I will switch them out for snow peak titanium, which don't fit perfectly but i'll make it work. Would be incredible if Trangia release a Titanium version of this kit, since it would match or beat the hard anodised aluminium for strength per weight, and would be far more biocompatible.I also have the Trangia Triangle which is more fiddly and less energy-efficient but incredibly thin & lightweight while also fitting all 3 burner types. It's clear why Trangia is a market leader.

Trangia 27 is a very versatile cooking set that works well in any weather (including winter and strong wind). Considering the weight of less than a kilogram (2pounds) it is a very good choice for backpacking expeditions. It is very compact and easy to handle but at the same time big enough to enable cooking of a decent meal for two (in terms of volume, quality and nutritional value is up to you) before "dishwashing" is necessary. The kettle is pretty handy to make some hot tea (a lightweight mug recommended to complement the cooking set). To make a long story short at this point in time this is my "first choice" when it comes to a backpackers cooking-set. I have enjoyed quite a few good meals in the wild thanks to this set, I also like the fact that the burner uses liquid fuels (methylated spirits), in my opinion they are very convenient and less trouble than gas cartridges. I would recommend supplementing the kit with lightweight wooden spoon, a mug and a fast drying microfiber cloth.

A Trangia never fails in providing many ways to cook, under a generous amount of heat. This set includes a kettle which is a really great idea, but the kettle lid does have a plastic handle that will melt if the flames from the methylated spirit reach it in high winds. This happened to me during a camp in Sark, so I have deducted a star due to a weak kettle design.I cooked tins of food, curries and even made a really nice scrambled egg with this kit. There really isn't much of a limit on what you can cook, even a full English Breakfast is possible with a bit of careful planning.The rest of the kit was outstanding, as I have come to expect from this brand. It is worth the money, but I would forget the kettle version, until they improve its design. I was able to brew a cup of tea in winds gusting 50mph, with just a little bit of shelter from my tent, so that's an outstanding result!

Quality item, well made and a great design. Been looking at these for a while seen this, cheapest I've found. Be rude not to take advantage.
