Hi Jill, I completely understand your concern, the fragrance we use in this soap is a higher quality fragrance that is free of phthalates and free of synthetic nitro musk. However it is still a fragrance and does not contain any essential oils. We have considered to discontinue this soap but we have quite a few customers that have requsted us to continue to make this soap.I hope this answers your question. Yes this soap lather. It's best to use when you take warm baths or showers. It only takes a few seconds for it to lather. All you have to do is wet your skin, rub the soap onto your skin, and add more water to your skin and use your hands to lather the soap onto your body.
