Wonderful
What a book, indeed! Received earlier today, began reading in the afternoon, and found it unputdownable; finished it by late evening. Want to salute Navtej Sarna for writing a brilliant introduction and also for an extremely lucid and vibrant translation. Am filled with so much admiration and reverence for Sikh gurus. Am keen to read more literary works by Guru Gobind Singh who must be known not just for his exemplary valour but also for his literary achievements. Am greatly motivated to make a visit to Gurudwara Sheeshganj, Gurudwara Rakabganj and Anandpur Sahib, and of course Golden Temple to be in the vicinity of the halo of history and legend of these incredible places.

Worth the money
The book gives a brief history of the Sikh gurus along with the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The book showcases the poetic or literary genius of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Most of the book includes the message that Guru Gobind Singh Ji has written to Aurangzeb which is in the form of poetic verses which are originally in Persian but here have been translated in English . The poetic verses include a lot of wisdom and knowledge. I have given 4 star because according to me the book should have a been a little bit more lengthy . Overall good book worth the price 👍

This is not just a letter
The Zafarnama is not merely a complaint but a declaration of spiritual sovereignty. Guru Gobind Singh Ji asserts the moral superiority of truth and justice over tyranny and deceit. He reminds Aurangzeb that while he may have succeeded through treachery, true victory belongs to those who adhere to righteousness. The letter is suffused with an unyielding spirit of defiance, as Guru Ji proclaims that the path of truth will ultimately triumph over falsehood.

Missing essential details.
Not refined. Covers broadly. Important details such as the baptism ceremony being done in a sarbloh(iron) bowl and not steel are missing. Similarly the kada is supposed to be iron and not steel as the writer has written. These are essential foundational aspects which can not be misquoted. Thank you.

I always wanted to know what the Zafarnama entailed other than knowing that it was a letter written in Persian script to Emperor Aurangzeb by the 10th Sikh Guru. Of course, many Sikhs cannot read or write Persian in the modern day; I therefore got this book from Amazon in its hardcover form to ascertain if its contents would do the modern day reader any justice in bringing the soul of this epic poetry. Not only does the translation appear to be easy to understand, but it is also written in rhymes. The author has really done a fabulous job in making this work available to the World. One does not need to be well versed in poetry to understand the praises and reproaches Guru Gobind Singh Ji wrote to make the Emperor aware of his oppression and misuse of power, who was guided only by his selfish ego to proclaim his version of a cohesive Islamic Empire. I strongly recommend this book to any avid reader with interest in history, especially Sikh history of the 17th century AD. A must for all young readers curious to learn what events took place during the Sikh retaliation against Mughal forces and why the Sikhs had to fight for their freedom and that of other faiths to give shape to modern India's diaspora. Beautifully done!
