Yes it can. It is usually a mix of feather, sheet, mood and sometimes cushion moss, all 100% natural.

How many small terrariums will this accomodate?

Depends on the terrarium, but I still have some left and already covered many bonsai trees. I love the variety!

Is the moss pesticide free? Are there any bugs found in it?

Hello, it is pesticide-free and comes directly from the forest. We do check for bugs but since we don't use pesticides there's no guarantee there won't be any in the moss.

What should you do to get rid of any bugs that might be present - soaking in something or an insecticide?

Submerge in water overnight. You might have to do this twice, but let the moss dry out a bit between soaks.
