It doesn't have to be a higher number to be good. Brand new old stock. I like the qualities.

GREAT SCREEN, CAMERA, BATTERY, STORAGE + DURABLE!
I've had the Google pixel 3XL for several months now and have really enjoyed it; this may even be my favorite phone thus far (and I've had 6 phones over the last 2 years, most being major flagship models). It feels super thin and lightweight, but SUPER durable - my screen is scratch-free (and I don't use a screen protector!), and this phone has survived not just getting dropped A LOT - after missing for 4 days, it was found outside under bricks after days of storms! I wiped the mud off, plugged it in and it worked perfectly (and still does!). The 6.3 inch screen is big, bright and vibrant, with excellent screen-to-body ratio. I've gotten used to the black "notch" that drops down about half an inch at the top because it allows for a great ear speaker and an awesome front camera. Pictures are sharp and portrait mode does an excellent job of putting the face in focus and softening the appearance of imperfections. I've also been very impressed with battery life - I can go a full day on a single charge and haven't noticed any decrease in battery life. I just started using a wireless charger, which works great even with a protective case.I read reviews that complained about no microSD or headphone jack, but there's plenty of storage space, and the box includes a headphone jack adapter to resolve that issue (although you're unable to charge the device while using headphones). As always, Amazon shipped my package quickly with next-day delivery and customer service was extremely helpful answering my questions about Amazon warehouse and item specifics. Very satisfied!*Pictures show camera quality - depth, color, sharpness and portrait mode

Great phone
Great deal! Got a $900 phone for about $400. I ordered a refurbished one, so there's a couple scratches and the occasional glitch but still does everything I need and want it to. Google really outdid themselves with the back camera on this sucker, not a dual but takes incredible shots in any lighting. Front camera leaves something to be desired in low light, but selfies aren't as important anyway (in my opinion). Functionality is great, I've read some reviews that the RAM slows them down but I have yet to have an app crash or malfunction. The Pixel 3 is fast, clean, and professional. Google Assistant features are nice, I like that they're optional to use when I want. The only slightly negative thing I would have to say is that the battery life is less than stellar. Even on battery saver mode, I'm nervous I won't make it through and entire day on a full charge. It has yet to die on me, but it's come close. Overall, great phone for a great price. Would recommend to anyone.

Unable to detect my SIM card
I was extremely excited to update my Google Pixel 1 to this new Google Pixel 3 XL with my T-Mobile network. I purchased it on Amazon Prime day and I received it one day early! Yaaay! I immediately connected my Pixel 1 to this phone and transferred all of my stuff, thinking it was a walk in the park. Unfortunately, when it came time to install my SIM card, it would not recognize it. I tried everything I possibly could as advised. I've been using my Pixel 1 since it came out "unlocked" for any carriers with T-Mobile with no issues. I popped in my SIM card back in the day and it worked just fine. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with Google, Amazon and T-Mobile last night to no avail. I ended up returning the phone today to Amazon after multiple attempts to fix the problem. After researching online, it seems many people are having the same SIM card issue including persons that have Verizon (which was exclusive to this phone from the beginning). They are saying the phone can be running normally but without notice it changes and says no SIM card installed. The phone seems fabulous but now I'm not so impressed. I'm also disappointed with Amazon because I applied and was approved for the Amazon credit card giving me an extra $100 off the phone but because I had to return it, the $100 discount is now null and void.

NOT new - seems like a great phone if it works correctly (camera issues)
Bought this (Pixel 3 XL) after accidentally destroying the screen on my Pixel 2 XL and going for this instead of trying to fix my old phone (again). To explain the title, in the Amazon purchase section of the product, I had selected "buy NEW". However, upon immediately opening my "new" phone. Both side stickers of the phone's retail box had been cut completely. So I can only assume that this is a refurbished or renewed model, that said, everything was neatly in the box, nothing missing. My immediate impression is that it feels great in my hands, is almost the same exact size of the Pixel 2 XL looks great. I have had the phone out of the box it came in for about 3 hours. Signed into it with my Google account and all of my apps and data that was backed up was right there on the phone ready for me to use. The interface is smooth and very similar to the Pixel 2. Took me a second to get used to how to access all open apps, but once I did I like how the Pixel 3 handles it better. Everything was great... until I tried to take a picture. From a factory reset of turning the phone on, to setting up the phone and updating the software, the rear facing camera would not focus. The back is crystal clear, no scratches. I went though all of the troubleshooting steps recommended by Google. Nothing worked. So I'm returning it. If the camera worked I'm sure I'd love it. The Pixel 3 does have unlimited high res backups to Google Photos. So if you have one where the camera works, then excellent!I'll update this later based on my experience with the return handling. If you select to return, Amazon contacts the seller who will then contact you (me in this case) with instructions. I'm still waiting on that.4 stars for now because I really like the phone (aside from camera not focusing, which also seems to happen quite a bit looking around online) but it is NOT NEW. So don't tell me I'm getting a new phone when the box is not even sealed.
