Description

Trishul is a Bollywood film that was directed by Yash Chopra and released in the year 1978. This Yash Chopra film features a star-studded cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Poonam Dhillon, Raakhee and so on. The hit music to this film was composed and directed by Khayyam, while the script was written by the celebrated duo, Salim-Javed.Trishul turned out to be one of the top grossers of 1978 along with Muqaddar Ka Sikander and Don, both of which also featured Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. This film was eventually remade in Tamil as Mr Bharath and starred Rajinikanth as the hero. Trishul also proved to be a source of inspiration for the Kamal Haasan starrer, Kadal Meengal and the Malayalam film, Meen.In the 70s, Amitabh Bachchan reached the peaks of fame by playing the symbolic angry-young-man in many of his popular movies. Trishul is such a film in which Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Viyak, the illegitimate son of a construction baron named Raj Kumar Gupta. Shanti is Vijay's mother and Raj Kumar Gupta's first love. However, in order to marry a wealthy heiress and further cement his future, Gupta refuses to marry Shanti. With the news that she is carrying his child, Shanti moves away from him to give birth to Vijay.Vijay is an energetic lad who grows up to hate his father for having abandoned his mother. He swears vengeance and decides to destroy his father's business. Blessed with a sharp intellect and unflinching courage, Vijay single-handedly proceeds to crush an entire empire. In his thirst for revenge, he comes across the lovely Sheetal (played by Hema Malini) and Geeta (played by Raakhee).Trishul was released by Eagle Home Entertainment in DVD format as a single disc. With a runtime of 158 minutes, this Hindi language film has been rated U and also features English subtitles.
