Timex Men's Ironman Transit 40 mm Watch

UPDATE:The watch takes standard spring barred 20mm strapsI changed the stick plastic strap for a beautiful natural Italian made, vanilla smelling Benito Cinturini dove strapnfrom Zulu diver here on amazon - and it’s a revelation - don’t want to take the watch off now - I chose a racing green type colour - pics attached -I do like a nice wristwatch, I have a few gems in my collection including a Bregeut, omega and grand seiko. I also have a Casio G shockI’ve always liked Timex too - I wear different watches for their aesthetic, look and function and when a certain watch is appropriate.I wanted a digital watch which was waterproof, looked good, easy to read time and date and good for work, workouts and outdoor use - something cheap but good - so if I lost it or it breaks I won’t cry.I decided to have a look at the Ironman series from Timex and I chose this because it looks good - isn’t huge like many G shocks and the negative display is something I’ve never had.The package arrived and I was disappointed by the packaging - not even a box - just some thin cardboard with the watch tied with plastic ties.In reality the watch looks as in the marketing photos but the display reveals greenish digits - which change under different lighting.It actually resembles a heart rate monitor - quite cool - is quite stealthy with the display and dark look. I like the grey case and the white chrono start stop button.The buckle is bead blasted satin and engravedThe keeper and strap are also signed with the Timex and Ironman logos.I have a 7.5” wrist and it wears perfectlyI liked it!The negative display is a bit dull - need to look at it directly to see the time - but luckily there’s the idiglo button at hand for all angles.It’s light, has a steel back, is comfortable and as mentioned before the size is excellentThe screen has all id want and it is a very nice looking timepieceThe chronofunction is very good and easy to use - setting the time and date is also very easy and the display makes it easy with simple instructions popping up when you press Set.The watch is ideal for swimming and snorkelling with the 100m water proofness.I also wore it in the sauna for 30 minutes and then left it in the hottest part of the sauna for another 30 minutes and it performed perfectly and didn’t overheat in any way.GRIPESThe strap is comfortable but it’s resin which means plastic - a silicon strap would’ve been nicer to touch and wear - this strap is ok but I would pay another few quid for a silicon or rubber.These straps can be changed to other Timex ones such as the canvas wrap around (other models of this same watch have the canvas) one which may be better suited for general outdoor wear - the resin is better for swimming, workouts and water proofness.I doubt aftermarket straps with spring bars can be fitted - correct me if I’m wrong.This is a 5 star product because the combination of function, form, looks, price and enjoyment.If it were more expensive I’d knock a star off because the stiff plastic resin strap is Not as nice as the casio ones and i would prefer silicon or a softer resin.Overall an excellent workout, outdoors, swimming, running watch which looks good and is comfortable and enjoyable to wear

Probably the best watch I've had for being comfortable, the lights ok and it keeps the time. The strap is really good.

I've worn Timex Iron Man for the last twenty years and loved them. The last two have literally kept going until they fell apart after over five years of hard use.I'm trying this and am a bit torn. I love how it looks - sleek and simple, but it definitely feels a bit cheaper than the others. Annoying little things like a bit too much play in the buttons when you press them. It's a pity because the build quality lets down what could be a terrific watch.

I haven't had a velcro strap in ages, Very comfortable to wear. Easy to read.

Does exactly what you want, and no more - looks good, robust, straightforward intuitive functions, love it

Overall it's good but easily get scratches.

My son has Dyspraxia, dyslexia and ASC so have hunted high an low for a Velcro strap however it’s still too small for my sons wrist despite it being a mans watch (my son is 12 but very big) in the end I’ve cut the webbing strap behind the watch so the elastic strap on top can stretch and now it fits great he’s very happy with his watch!
