Perfect for my home network and cable modem
Within one week of buying this , I lost power in the house but this unit keep the PC and cable modem and VoIP phone going for 15 minutes. I have always liked TrippLite products. I have a line conditioner that I bought ten years ago to keep the voltage in line when the AC of the house kicks in. I do not use the software. I just wanted it as a reliable UPS. It worked perfect. For the price , I also bought another one for my wife's parents. One suggestion, it is not designed to handle a large laser printer. Keep that unit plugged into another outlet.

Excellent UPS and Customer service that you can talk to - and understand.
I can't really say that I love it yet as I have only had it installed and working for about 1 week. But I have plugged it in and plugged in my computer, monitor and two inkjet printers into the battery backup plugs. I have also plugged a couple of other items into the surge protected plugs and so far have not had a brown-out for a test. The software is a different story - I downloaded the Windows version for this UPS from their website, but could not get it to run and open the control panel. After calling their support and talking to a very helpful and knowledgeable gentleman, still nothing worked, but I remember that he had said something about needing to have a current version of Java installed. Bingo! Sure enough, my Java was ancient - like over one year old. I went to Oracle's website and using their routines, uninstalled the older version of Java and installed the new, rebooted my computer and checked - sure enough the new version of Java was installed. Then went back into the TrippLite folder and activated the control panel. Hooray ! It came up and was monitoring the UPS as intended. Now that everything is working, I can keep up with power fails without worry.

Good ups battery backup
Tripp Lite has always been my favored power backup, and this one seems just as good. A great product at a reasonable price.

Safe, invisible back up power supply
This is a very easy to use back up power supply. I plugged it in to my iMac through the USB port and it was automatically set up. It runs in the background and has a long battery life. We have lots of power outages here, and the real nasty kinds where the power goes in and out for several seconds before it finally stops. I have had computer power supplies blown from these spikes. One time our house (Metal roof since we catch the water in a big water tank) took a direct hit from a lightning bolt. (The power was out for 8 hours since it was a bad electrical storm) The house was hit so strong that it blew the power fuse on the power pole. Since this strike was right on the house it was very serious, my Tripp Lite back up power supply clicked off. Unfortunately, that also turned off my computer, but when power came back up, the Tripp Lite came back to life and all my electronics where fine. Without it, they would have all been damaged for sure. Other times we have had surges and power outages where my computer didn't even notice. And since I have VoIP I also keep my cable modem and router on this back up power. So, I was able to call the power company in the dark on my phone (I have a simple phone that doesn't use an electrical outlet) then turn off my computer safely. I left the power on the cable modem and it stayed up for hours. Until another lightning strike took out something on the cable lines somewhere...

Works great with Mac
Seems to work well... no zapped computer yet. A few times on windy days it has taken over from line voltage, even when lights in the house stayed on and there appeared to be no actual change in supply. Macs recognize this unit immediately when plugged in via USB and have built-in settings for UPS in the Energy-Saver Preferences box. From there you can tell the computer what to do when the UPS takes over.

A reliable home office UPS value.
Small and reliable UPS. Great for home office needs. A careful do-it-yourselfer can replace the batteries when needed and make this an even better value.

Software does not work with a standalone Mac
This is a junky looking unit, from a design standpoint and it has an awful smell. Their tech support said the product and the software is "Mac-compatible" but it will not work with a standalone Mac (at least the auto shutdown software will not work). Mac users be warned. (Edit) - it should be pointed out that the hardware DOES work with Mac, but the more advanced software management tools that are sold as a feature of the device require a PC with different software installed on the same Network. You CAN use the OSX built-in UPS management software, but not the software that automatically closes programs, etc. But it DOES smell terrible, compared to the device I bought as a replacement.

Nice UPS
I purchased this UPS because I participate in EarthTrek's Quake-Catcher Network [...] and I want to ensure that data is preserved in the event of a power failure. I have experienced one (that I'm aware of) power failure since setting up this unit, and it worked perfectly.
