Rectorseal 83560 Hot Block Reusable Heat Absorption Putty, 8 oz, Gray

Tried this for the first time yesterday have to say this work really well. Didn’t heat up at all where you use it. Genius creation.

This stuff is great. It allowed me to desolder and solder a hose bib to my piping without desoldering the nearby elbows. Wish I had it before my previous plumbing repair which resulted in opening a wall to re-solder the joint that separated due to too much heat conducted from the fitting I was desoldering.

was messy for brazing. Ill stick to shop rags

Maybe mine was just old but it arrived very dry. I added water to get it to a usable condition but once put on and exposed to heat dried up and flaked off. Not usable a second time. Kind of a waste of money if you ask me. Would definitely not buy again.

It works ok but it don’t mold to the pipe like it should and it gets dry pretty quickly

leaves a mess, you end up getting a wet rag to clean the crap left over, nice idea but needs to be a clean way.

Excellent product for Heat Absorption. Takes direct heat/flame as well without ruining the putty. Sticks to the copper pipe even with direct flame and doesn’t break apart or fall off

This stuff is fantastic. I can literally cherry the copper with my hand holding the line right on the other side of this putty. Leaves very minimal residue unlike Viper wet rag which leaves a nasty mess.

There will still be some burnt putty on the surface, which cannot be reused. Considered lost.
