Excellent account of SOG activities during the Vietnam War.
This book is one of several that I have read on the MACV SOG’s operations in Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam during the War. It is without doubt one of the very best, outlining as it does in gripping detail, the “over the fence operations” as seen from the Zero One, Recon Leader’s perspective. The incredible bravery that those members of the US Special Forces soldiers, together with their indigenous Vietnamese, Nung, and Montagnard colleagues showed and a daily basis is beyond belief. Moreover, the ability and the fortitude necessary of those men to keep returning, day after day, to these areas of such intense danger, is really difficult for even an ex-military man myself to comprehend. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in this area of US ops during the Vietnam War.

Excellent first hand accounts of the secret war in the countries surrounding South Vietnam.
Really a good read concerning a subject I knew only a little about. I also HIGHLY recommend listening to the 4 podcasts the author did recently with Jocko Willink available on YouTube. Former SEAL, Jocko seems as hard as they come but he admits to being awestruck by the experiences described in the book Each starts with a reading from the book then after a few minutes moves onto general discussion. Fascinating. Search YouTube for Jocko podcasts 180, 181 and 182 (and Jocko podcast 186 with the author together with another SOG warrior Doug Letourneau - who sadly passed away soon after the recording).

Simply awesome!
This book is something else. The achievements of these warriors are well and truly herculean, though shrouded in secrecy and silence for decades. Legendary stuff and a gripping must read!

A mind boggling collection of stories of the quiet professionals.
A mind blowing read. Thank God John "Tilt" Stryker Meyer put these stories into print and shared them with the world. I am grateful to have learned of them through the Jocko Podcast and followed up with some of the books. Looking forward to reading more.

Thrilling story of macVsog , during Vietnam war.
Great read , not too much to it ,but still very much enjoyed it. Give graphic depiction just how brave ,and how dangerous it was for macV sog operators in Vietnam.
