5 Stars Are You Crazy?
5 Stars , Are You Crazy? I am giving this 5 stars because it delivers ! I am adding a video so you can see. Dead simple to record. I was up and running in under 5 minutes. If your goofing around and want to record 1080p XBOX ONE this is what you want. Feels better than some of the reviews stated. I don't find it cheep at all. I did not like the manual . Good luck! I wanted to tinker around with settings and a firmware update. Gave up after 30 minutes. Where on earth is the "jedi.img" file? Turns out it does not matter. The video of FarCry 5 looks as good as I need it to. I did not try the Component cable. In the future I plan to record some 3DO games. It has a composite port but I bet I can get it to work. I will update this review when I do. Unless you need 4K recording I have no idea why you would not buy this one. 50% less!

WON'T RECORD COMPONENT, ONLY COMPOSITE
Bought this to record component video sources, what I was sent can only record composite and HDMI. Works great for both but I needed it to record component and it's completely incapable. The storefront claimed it was a mixup. However, the product page here clearly mentions YpBpR video. Even the sticker on the box it came in mentions YpBpR video. I think they're knowingly shipping out cheaper units to turn a better profit. They told me I could ship it back for a refund, which I'd sooner not do. That's money out of my pocket explicitly because of this manufacturer's garbage business practices. When I reached out they didn't even offer to replace it. Don't buy this if you want to record component, there's no telling what you'll actually receive.

It just works!
Probably about 20 years behind on converting VHS tapes but here we are. I tried using my PC and fancy capture card but figuring out the software was too challenging for something I'll only use for this one project. This device just sits between your player and your tv. Videos are captured on a thumb drive or external hard drive. I realized that while I was busy trying to adjust brightness, color, and contrast on my deteriorating VHS tapes I could instead just get them digitized and complete any editing and improving later. The good: 1. Comes with the necessary a/v cables for a standard VHS (yellow/red/white RCA to 1/8 plug plus a coupler if you already have the cables hooked up behind your tv. Decent enough instructions for a simple device. You can plug in your tv to the HDMI-out if you want to monitor your playback (of course you do.) Also has HDMI-in for other inputs; I did not test this feature as it's not why I bought it. 2. Simple to hook up, insert a thumb drive, hit play on the VCR and record on the device. The light changes from green to orange-red when you are successfully recording. Depending on the format of your storage you may want to limit the video size to about 15 minutes or so, which was plenty for my purposes. 3. If desired, insert the thumb drive into your PC to edit with your favorite software. From here you can manipulate your videos to your heart's content, play your videos, or create DVDs. The not-as-good: 1. Occasionally the record button doesn't "do" anything; just stays green despite multiple presses. I'm not sure if that's the button malfunctioning or that the device is "thinking" but after a few seconds everything works. 2. Doesn't come with a power cord but any usb-C cable should work. 3. Names the files "Encode 1, Encode 2 etc" and according to the instructions will eventually run out of numbers. You have to manually reset this by holding down the record button as you plug in the power. For the price it's definitely the way to go for this type of project. It made this project fun and easy.

Perfect for recording anything via HDMI
I bought one of these a year ago. The first one I ordered stopped working after a day. Having Prime, I sent it back free of charge and replaced it with another. The replacement has worked perfectly for over a year. To do some additional video recording at 2 different locations, I recently ordered 2 more. One of the 2 were bad... sent it back to Amazon, got a replacement that works fine. While you may get a bad one... the trouble in sending it back for a replacement is worth it. 1920 x 1280 resolution easy; and an easy to see green/red light indicating the status of standby or record. Captured audio is recorded a little low, so while I'm processing the captured video, I set the software to normalize the audio level. When recording longer video, the device breaks what's captured into 2 Gb sized files. The included software enables the split files to be joined, trimmed, etc. This is a basic unit that gets the job done and is very easy to use. I ordered a similar device a year ago and sent it back because it had too many bells and whistles on it... making it difficult to understand/use and really unnecessary, as everything it could do could be done better using video editing software. As I own 3 of them, goes without saying that I like the hell out of them and is one of my favorite items I've ordered off of Amazon.

Pues a mí me encantó porque me funcionó muy bien para grabar mis vídeos favoritos de todas partes. La calidad de imagen excelente, cómo la calidad de origen, excepto 4k. Excelente

I had audio recording issues when I first reviewed this product, and I left a scathing review. Sadly it was my mistake, this is actually working great. I’d have given it 5 stars except the case is cheap plastic. Functionally it’s very good and does exactly what it’s supposed to. I’ve updated my review to give the product the rating it actually deserves. I’ve been enjoying digitizing old home movies.

Love this little unit, recording like crazy since yesterday, tried similar device and even could not record HDMI, flawless recording through HDMI, tried with Mac and digital content via HDMI, video bitrate is 4800, great quality as had to reduce by software to have smaller size, tried with flash card, must be formatted as FAT32 which has max 2GB file limit, no problem at all with missing frames or latency, flash was USB2, only Audio was a bit lower than source but that could be easily fixed, very easy to work with, recommend it

I order this around the end of December for my YouTube channel. The first video I recorded didn't end up working properly cutting off 3 hours worth of content it only saved bits and pieces (while those were terribly glitchy), and now it can turn on but the record feature doesn't even work anymore, I tried contacting the company thru phone and email and did not get a response back and I want my money back, what a wast of space it's become and I will never buy from that company again.
