Definitely Worth it, but Read Below
Overall, I'm incredibly satisfied with this product. The quality of the build is great (plastic is more rugged than a Nintendo DS for sure, which I wasn't exactly expecting!), and the battery life is as long as advertised. Wifi works great on it, and loads Youtube videos as quickly as your wireless router allows. Some VERY important things to note though: This is literally an Android device with handheld gaming hardware attached to the frame. It comes pre-loaded with a few games, but If you haven't installed emulators on an Android device before, you'll probably want to learn how in order to get the full use of this device. Also, since this device isn't recognized as an official google approved device, you will not be able to access the app store. This may not be 100% the case, but I didn't want to spend the time trying to figure out how to navigate around that, so I ended up "side-loading" the apps I needed. Side-loading apps is something you'll also probably want to do some research on. Once everything is set up though, this device truly is amazing. I've got a ton of Sega DreamCast, Nintendo 64, Playstation Portable, PS1, and Game Boy Advance games loaded on there, and they play flawlessly. This is by far the best gift you could possibly give to a person who loves retro console games, because it will literally play all the games that were released on the consoles listed above, as well as a few others. You can also connect it up to a TV using an HDMI console, and you pretty much have all of the above consoles on this nice little device.

Amazing Handheld
This GPD XD Plus is amazing I tried Digimon World 4 for GameCube it was playing the intro just fine. Don’t buy RK2020 or RG351P this GPD XD Plus is very fast unit to play retro games up to GameCube. I like GPD XD it has beautiful display at 720p, battery life is amazing, touch screen is working perfectly no issues. The DPAD is amazing it feels very comfortable and very easy to use. The analog sticks feels amazing they mind me of Nintendo Switch analog sticks. I love how you can play a ton of retro games on the go like Nintendo, Genesis, Neo Geo, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast and Sega Saturn, GameCube. I highly recommend GPD XD Plus it’s very fast gaming handheld. Got stereo speakers and I heard you can stream games as well I haven’t tested it out yet I’m still testing it out. Got L3 and R3 button which is very nice feature. Go get GPD XD Plus you be happy with it and running Android 7 I noticed I was able to play demanding games on google play store You have 24.5gb of free space in the internal memory you can expanded it with micro SD card. Built it Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Android games runs very well I only tested 1-2 games they seems to be running fine. You can watch movies surf the web etc.

Amazing device but read this review first!
Dear GPD XD Plus, will you marry me?? But in all seriousness, this is an amazing device, but it ships with a couple of small issues (depending on which batch you receive). 2 of the issues are easily fixable, the other is not a fatal, but definitely read about these flaws at the bottom of the review. The GPD XD Plus is an amazing device and best suited for retro gaming and emulation. It's got a good bit of power under the hood and can emulate game systems all the way up to less intensive PSP games. Any home console or handheld all the way up to Playstation 1 works pretty much flawlessly. Please note you will need to take N64 with a grain of salt, as emulation in general for N64 is not optimized. For N64, it's all about whether the emulator you're using has enough compatibility with the game you want to play. I have a beefy gaming laptop that can run GameCube games perfectly and still has problems with N64. Some of the major cons: *Bluetooth: you can sync wireless earbuds to this thing or wireless controllers *Wifi: You can play online with RetroArch (or possibly other emulators you can find in the Play Store). Though RetroArch is a bit cumbersome to get online working. You can also transfer files extremely easily via wifi. I recommend using CX File Explorer, it's free with no ads or in app purchases, and has an FTP mode to allow transfers to the device. This is also handy for using a filesync program to backup your save game progress and such. *Touchscreen: This is wonderful just to be able to type alone, let alone the other obvious advantages *Mini HDMI Port: You'll need an adapter (pretty sure you can find these cheap at Walmart) to convert the mini HDMI connection to regular HDMI, but combine this with the bluetooth controller and you basically have the Nintendo Switch of retro gaming consoles, and can play with other players as well. *Duel analog joysticks: These are TRUE analog joysticks, this is amazing. *Good battery life/Replaceable battery: I believe I've seen other people write that the battery life isn't great, but I've had the opposite experience. I haven't clocked it, but I think I may have gotten 3 to 4 total hours out of the battery. Regardless, I never feel like the battery is dying quickly at all. If you play hooked to a TV with a controller, you can just plug it into the power source and it'll charge while you play. I've read that the battery can be replaced. Keep in mind you will need tools to do it, but as far as I know, you don't have to solder anything, you unplug the old one and plug the new one in (do your homework on this first, if you ever need to replace it). *Solid design, feels heavy duty in the hands and doesn't feel cheap (the price is justified). *Has all the buttons necessary to map a full Playstation Dualshock controller (including L2, R2, L3, R3).. Commonly on other handhelds, they'll be missing the L2, R2, L3 and R3 buttons. So it makes it a pain to play Playstation games that fully utilize all the Dualshock buttons, but this has all the buttons needed. L3 and R3 are separate buttons rather than having to press the joysticks, but I like this for a handheld form factor. The CONS and main issues I mentioned in the beginning: 1. HDMI doesn't work with the screen closed, out of the box. The VERY FIRST thing you will want to do before anything else when you get this is install CleanROM. There is a very thorough and helpful YouTube video that shows you how to do this step by step, you can Google this to find it and there's also a thread on a popular site maintained by loyal fans of the device. You can always get an answer to your questions about the GPD XD and XD Plus. Installing CleanROM will fix the HDMI issue, and it's really a better image than what ships with the device. This way, you can play it on the TV and have the screen turned off on the GPD, so you're not burning out your screen for no reason. 2. The hinge may be way too tight when yours arrives. If you open the screen with too much force, it will crack the plastic casing around one or both of the hinges, but this can be fixed easily. There is a YouTube tutorial on how to remove and adjust (tighten/loosen) the hinge. I loosened mine and this resolved two issues: I don't have to worry about cracking the plastic case. Also, my screen stopped closing all the way because the hinge was too tight, and it would pop back up a little when trying to close. Loosening the hinge took out a lot of the tension. 3. This is the least problematic flaw, but I noticed the d-pad can be quite squeaky after a really short amount of time (I forget if it was like that out of the box). Adding a light amount of 91% Isopropyl alcohol (safe for electronics) solves the issue but it doesn't last forever. I've read that replacing the d-pad with one from a Nintendo DS (lite?) will solve the issue and be better than the stock d-pad. I don't feel like doing this so I'll wait until a much later time, so can't attest to it. But aside from those few flaws, if you can get CleanROM installed and the hinge adjusted, this thing is awesome. Some familiarity with RetroArch definitely helps with the setup process. I prefer RetroArch as I got every system working properly in it except for PSP and N64, but those are better to use separate emulators anyway, and there is a great free emulator for both.

Seems great but more work than its worth
I really do love this thing, but I've invested an inordinate amount of time into it. If you're willing to put in the time, this thing is the best, otherwise, I'd pass. The software that ships on it is incredibly crappy and filled with crapware. There are sites online that detail how to root the device and put a cleaner rom on it. THIS IS REQUIRED FOR A GOOD EXPERIENCE. Then you can better organize things and trust the thing isn't "phoning home" to China.... Otherwise, with the stock software, its very hard to figure out how to do basic tasks like loading ROMs etc. The documentation is nonexistent, and lots of the UI is in Chinese too, so its basically useless to me.
