The Discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamen (Egypt) Review: Excellent story and adventure of never giving up. - Having visited the tomb in the Valley of the Kings last year it is a fascinating read. All that remains of Tutankhamen in the tomb is his body and sarcophagus, the rest of the objects are in the Cairo Museum. Review: It's like being there! - There are two things that make this book special: Mr. Carter's description of not only what he sees as he enters the tomb, but his emotions as well. The other special feature is that the book's pictures have been interjected within his story in close proximity to what Carter is describing at the time. Carter also makes it extremely easy to understand what he is describing by referencing specific plate numbers. This is useful when the reader is not familiar with the name of an item because it never existed in modern times. For a person who enjoys reading stories of true events, Mr. Carter has given us a gem of a book. My only wish is that Mr. Carter had available to him at the time the technology of color film. His descriptions of what he sees and the stiking colors he witnessed in the tomb leave one yearning for color prints.

Great insight to process of Discovery
We are all fortunate that Howard Carter and his team discovered the Boy King’s tomb. His dedication to his process allowed us to share in the discovery like it happened yesterday

Fun read
If you’re reading this book you probably already know everything it’s going to tell you about Tutankhamen. But, it’s nice to have a first hand account!

Exciting
This is a true adventure story. Well written. I felt I was there and could feel the tension build as they get closer to Tut’s tomb.

I don't like to handle them too much as they are out ...
I have the original hard copy volumes written by Howard Carter. I don't like to handle them too much as they are out of print now. This version is quite accurate and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to read through the history again.

Pretty good, a little dry and occasionally over detailed about the wrong things.
It is pretty good but on the dry side. Even for an archaeology buff

Gute Zusammenfassung der damaligen Geschehnisse. Die S/W-Fotos lassen die Pracht der Entdeckung leider nicht aufleben. Ich fand auch den Lebenslauf von Lord Carnavon sehr interessant.

A great book, especially when read 3 days after visiting the Tut display in the Egypt Museum. I really felt like I relieved Carter's exploration. However I always feel ripped off though when 10% of the download has PR by the publisher and of course sadly the photo quality is very poor.

The real history of the Tutankhamen's tomb discovery from the speak of the direct witness plus a very interesting biography written by the Carter's widow in the book's preface.
