Q: What is the process to connect two computers as a network using the superlooper crossover adapter? are there some commands to run in windows?

When you connect two network devices with a crossover connector like this, all you need to do is define a fixed IP address on each device with the same subnet (first three sets of numbers like 192.168.0...) then each device needs a different last number (like 10 for the first device and 20 for the second device). So one device could be 192.168.0.10 and the second one would be 192.168.0.20. A router basically assigns dynamic IP addresses and a router or switch manages the physical wire connections. This crossover bypasses both so you need to manually assign the IP addresses.

A lifesaver

This is a must-have for anyone who works with ethernet devices. There's nothing more frustrating than spending hours trying to figure out why your device won't talk to you (and assuming your code is faulty), only to discover that you're using a mislabeled patch/crossover cable.Now that I have this, I threw away all of my crossover cables. This means a)fewer cables and b)I always know FOR CERTAIN what kind of cable I'm using. That peace of mind alone is worth far more than the purchase price.

Saves me a lot of time.

I use to spend time looking for a crossover cable when I needed one. No more, I only cary one cable now and keep this on one end.

Useful Device

Works perfectly for converting a straight through cable to a crossover. Saves me the trouble of toting around a separate crossover cable in my toolkit. One extremely minor problem is that it is possible for the tab to catch on something and break off. Since I use this adapter as a temporary measure I do not find that this really impedes the functionality of this adapter.

As my subject says, no IT professional should be without this little device. To many times I've made a crossover because I can never find one when I need it. This goes on my keyring and works like charm with any straight through cat5 or 6e cables. Slick as butter!
