As a beginner learning Turkish, I've only found "201 Turkish Verbs" very helpful. The preface has a list of other sourcebooks to use. The forward gives some very useful and interesting information about the Turkish language. The introduction goes into more technical depth - but it's still a quick overview. Even so,I still don't understand everything that is explained there. Then, there are the 200 verbs conjugated in present, present progressive, future, definite past, indefinite past, necessity, subjunctive (groan), conditional, and imperative. Yes, Turkish is very regular in its verb conjugations - The last sections of the book go over conjugation of negative and interrogative forms, a list of compound and auxiliary verbs, and "permutations of the past tenses," which I have yet to understand and figure out. Finally there is a Turkish-English verb index, and an English-Turkish verb index... well, to me, the beginner can learn a whole hell of a lot from this book as well as have a reference for the times when she/he needs to figure out a tense or doesn't remember the way to conjugate that tense... the most useful verbs are included... if you can't find the verb you are looking for, you can use the examples provided to figure out what you need. I'm very happy with this book... The one thing I thought was cheap was the font...! But the font doesn't keep me from learning the content... so that is a poor excuse to drop its rating... Review: an important tool in my Turkish language arsenal - This is a very helpful book to someone who's at the beginner or intermediate level of learning the turkish language. I had read a lot of reviews before buying this book. I am glad I decided to buy it. It has helped me reinforce proper verb conjugation and is an excellent reference tool. I foresee myself carrying this book with me wherever I go on my next trip to Turkey. If you're having doubts about it, trust me and buy it. You will be happy you did.

helpful if you are a serious student
This book is helpful if you need to look up a verb and double check whether you have the conjugation right. Turkish is very regular, so if you learn the rules, this book is unnecessary. I do find it helpful, because I sometimes forget whether to drop a vowel or add a y. I do find it handy, because a lot of Turkish verbs are spelled very similarly, and I can flip through the book to learn all of the common Turkish verbs. I don't recommend it for learning grammar, as it's more of just a handy reference of verbs and their tenses. It won't teach you much beyond that. If you are a serious student of Turkish, then I think this is a book worth having in your collection. If you are looking for one or two books for learning Turkish, then pass on this one. Buy Elementary Turkish by Thomas and Starting Turkish by Dogan. Those two books are what have helped me the most. My husband is Turkish, and those two books help me when I visit Turkey and speak to my in-laws.

This is a great study guide for anyone wanting to learn Turkish verbs
This is a great study guide for anyone wanting to learn Turkish verbs. The verbs presented are useful. Plus, the conjugation of the verbs is very organized and very clear. Of course you cannot LEARN Turkish with this book alone, but I would definitely recommend it is as supplementary material while attempting to acquire the language. Good luck!

Useful on the Margins
I have used the book for looking up the aorist form of verbs as needed in drills. The book is minimalist. Room on the pages would have been ample to include further details e.g. which declensions are associated with any given verb. Negative forms of the verb are not included in the conjugations of the 201 chosen verbs. Finally, the font used is like that of an old typewriter -- dull and not very easy on the eyes. I wouldn't go running to buy this book but it commands a cheap price tag commensurate with its marginal value.

Total waste of money
A most horrible product ! I ordered it because I really needed it. It arrived on time and in good condition. Then I opened the book, couldn't read most of it. It seems someone has typed up the pages. Even that would have been all right if it were legible ! The book itself is small in size , most of the page is left empty. As a result the font size is very small, people who do not have perfect eyesight will have trouble reading it. On top of all of that , it seems the ink had faded from a lot of the original typeface rendering it practically illegible. Barron's should be ashamed to put their name on this product and to sell it at the price they are selling it for, it should be a crime !

it's very clear and useful and the intro
the book is deceptively simple.it's very clear and useful and the intro. takes time to explain some quirky features of a mostly straightforward and regular language.

Manuel excellent pour travailler et réviser les verbes à tous les temps principaux. Classés par ordre alphabétique. Très pratique et très bien fait : verbes principaux ... seul bémol (peut-être fait exprès) mais la police d'écriture fait un peu vieillotte..

This is the second copy of this book I have bought - I donated my old one to a friend! It is not an easy read but it is a very useful tool when trying to crack Turkish verbs. The verb which comes at the end of a sentence is a vital part of learning the language. This book translates the most common verbs in all the tenses you will need to use, and some! As most of the verbs follow regular patterns it is easy with help from this book to conjugate those not listed.

I really found (and still find!) that book very useful: I could learn more verbs (still not finished it yet!) than with a dictionary and find the right conjugation whenever I was starting to have serious doubts about my 'Turkish onions' (I'm nearly fluent but still needed THAT book)! A minor disappointing point though just for "fault-finding' sake" is that all the conjugations were written with a typing machine and the body text is not right-justified (justified on the right hand side, that is!). A more up-to-date font like the easy-on-the-eye Garamond would have cost nothing...

Bought as a present for someone learning Turkish for a few years. Very helpful if the focus is on grammar.

Very good book though I found that some verbs are not used very heavily in modern daily speak. But you only learn this at a certain stage of language learning anyway. Very good for beginners.
