Great tea. Russian Caravan is my favorite tea and this one did not disappoint!

My favorite tea!

I have had real Russian Caravan from a local tea shop and this brand is nothing like it at all. There should be a smokey aroma and this was beyond weak tea. The flavor was non-existent, there was no "nose" to it, and it actually gave me a headache and I don't know why. I still have the real stuff and I poured the raw dry tea out in bowls for comparison: the aroma, the texture, and they didn't even look like the same ingredients. The real Russ. Caravan has NO GREEN LEAVES IN IT. This one DOES. And that's where a bitter smell was coming from (like Lipton tea) nasty. UPDATE: well i finally figured it out. the 3 main ingredients to Russian Caravan are: oolong, keemun, and lapsang souchong. When you read the ingredients on the back of this container, there is no mention of "lapsang souchong" (which is the core of the "smokey" flavor. It's russian caravan and they leave out an important tea? just wow. so i went and bought lapsang souchong seperately and i will mix it into this failed can of so-called russian caravan and attempt to save it. in a nut shell: they left out lapsang souchong (the key tea for the smokey flavoring), bought lapsang souchong separately and will add it to the jar. fixed it. Brand for the lapsang souchong: Taylors of Harrogate. hope that helps. For 30.00 I was expecting the real Russian Caravan. This was a HUGE disappointment. (for the record, I am tea fanatic, so there is always tea served at my house on the daily basis. Brewed, and served with my tea set. So please don't think I am some moron that doesn't know what she's talking about..) This tin itself is nice. And you get a lot of tea. (I have also bought another from this brand and it was ok). But I am out 30.00 on tea I cannot drink and I have headache. Can someone please explain to me why? (I have NEVER got a headache from TEA in my life! O_O ) I'll be searching for a better brand... (does anyone know a good brand? that's REAL Russ. Caravan?..)

This historical tea is suppose to be smokey, which is why I ordered it. There is no smoke flavor in this tea. A good black tea it is, but I was looking for the smoke flavor.

I broke from my usual Fortnum & Mason favorite flavors to try Russian Caravan. I’m so glad I did! This wonderful tea will now be in my regular purchase rotation.

The tin was heavily dented, there was absolutely no seal on said tin and tea had spilled out all over the bag. Immediately into the trash. Do not waste your money in this product. If I could give a 0 I would.
