KabelDirekt – 1.5m – Headphone Extension Lead Cable, 3.5mm connectors (aux audio cable, male jack plug/female jack, practically break-proof metal casing, perfect for headphones, black)

I've had a few different cables from the KabelDirekt brand and they've all been excellent. This one is no exception. I used this 2m version to extend my PC's rear I/O mic to my headset microphone, avoiding the noisy front I/O socket. The plug and socket have a nice solid, tight connection and the cable itself is a quality rubberised construction. It worked perfectly and despite the length, introduced no detectable noise or hiss. My mic sounds just as good as before. Just in case you're reading the multiple reviews marking it down because "the mic doesn't work", be aware that this is a TRS cable, so only carries either a mic OR audio signal, not both. It's clearly shown as such in the pictures. If you've got a headset that combines both into one plug, then you'll need a TRRS cable instead!

These have served us very well. I bought several for the band to use in church (we use wired in-ear-monitors). They are strong, and seem to be of high quality. However, we have layed them out and they stay connected permanantly. They are easy to use. They sound great, and are definately very good value for money. A wireless set of in-ear-monitors can cost over £1,000 per channel, our solution that included these headphone extension cables cost us under £50 per channel. Our solution included an 8 channel headphone amp, headphone extension cables, & a loom (1m long). The ear buds - you can spend as little or as much as you like. So, I'd gladly buy these again.

I bought this headphone extention lead to use with my Iron Maiden headphones to use on my Sony AV receiver. I already had an Amazon basics extension lead that worked well but wandered if getting a properly shielded heavier guage ofc cable would eak any more performance out of my headphones. Compared to the Amazon basics extension cable, the biggest difference is the volume level of the sound, this cable is noticeably louder when played at the same volume and the sound has better Bass and overall clarity, this shows that the Amazon basics thing guage un-shielded cable was causing a big loss in sound! That's very poor. Overall the sound when using this extension is essentially identical to connecting my headphones direct to my receiver :) which is a LOT more than can be said of the Amazon basics cable which losses volume and clarity, well I guess it's called basics for a reason 😂 The build quality of this extension is really good and the cable feels solid with robust metal capped terminations, the 3.5mm female port gets a really solid grip on my headphones plug for optimal signal transfer, the male 3.5mm plug clips in nice and strong to my headphones 6.35mm Silver adapter, great all round. The only issue I had with this cable is when trying to connect it to the Iron Maiden headphones 3.5-6.35mm Silver plated adapter which has a small recess where the 3.5mm plug inserts, the metal cap was a fraction of a mm to thick to fit. Of course I could have used a 3rd party adapter with no issue at all, but I wanted to use the Silver plated one that I already have. So I unscrewed the metal cap and sanded it until it fits, then screwed it back on, clipped it into the 6.35mn adapter then put a small piece of Tessa cloth tape over the plug for neatness, now it works flawlessly. The issue I have explained is no fault of this extension lead, it's because the Silver adapter with my headphones is designed to only work with the cable of my headphones so if used with a universal adapter, no modification would be nessesary.

Quality is alright connection gets fuzzy in place but otherwise good product

If you are one of those people who when asked 'how do you like your tea?' you answer 'I don't care so long as it's wet', then go right ahead and get one of those other extension cables for £1.50. However if you are a little more discerning then give this cable some thought. It's common advice in Hi Fi circles that you need to spend about 10% of the cost of your system on cables. So if my MP3 player cost £80 then I would be willing to spend up to £8 on an extension cable for it. By the way, Hi fi afficionados please excuse me for comparing MP3 players to 'HI Fi', but I'm just trying to illustrate a point! This cable (I ordered the 1M version) arrived in next to no time. The cable itself is substantial enough to match the 3.5mm jack, and the connectors seem to be good quality. It's all much better than the flimsy looking extension cable that came with my Sony MP3 player, and there is no apparent loss of quality of sound when using this cable with said player, as opposed to listening through ear phones without the extension. Believe me, good quality cable can make a difference to sound, and it's probably worth spending a few more quid, rather than opting for one of those £1.50 jobs out there! PS: Update: after using it for my Mp3 player in the gym, I was having second thoughts because the extra weight of the this cable was making itself known by the extra tug on my lug holes through the in ear head phones, and the cable swung around more. However I have discovered that you can unscrew and remove the fancy sheathes at either end of this extension cable next to the plugs, which reduces the weight considerably. These sheathes do not protect anything underneath and are for cosmetic purposes only, as far as I can see. So happiness is restored!

Had a couple of Kabeldirekt aux cables for a few years now and they're still in great condition. Heavy duty rubber coating drapes well and is resistant to kinking provided you take care of coiling them up properly when you're done with them. Connection points at ends have not fallen apart like some other cables if used in the past. I've got quite a collection of these cables now, best I've used. Being rubber coated they are also easy to clean if they get dusty or anything spilled on them.
