St. Croix rods are known for their quality and this one is no exception. Perfect for surf fishing. Matched it up with a Penn 5500. Now the bad news, Amazon did a horrible job in packing the rod for shipment. The package arrived in a complete crushed state. So bad was the box I almost refused the order. Past fishing rods I have purchased through the mail have come in a triangle shaped tube box. Very strong and cannot be bent. Amazon should take a lesson from this. And one more thing: I believe this rod was a return as there was a "gummy" spot where a label had once been affixed.

I am a big fan of St. Croix rods due to their excellent brand reputation, appealing design, and comfortable ergonomics. However, I have experienced a frustrating issue with my second replacement rod, the "SES90MLMF2." Unfortunately, while loading the cast with my usual 1/2oz jig head and Keitech swim bait, which falls within the recommended weight category, the rod snapped once again. (see attached photos of both rods) This is now the second replacement rod that has broken in the same area during the cast loading process. It's worth mentioning that I have used or continue to use many other surf rod brands without encountering this problem. Despite this setback, I still have a strong affinity for this rod, and I am hesitant to go through the process of ordering a third one.

I once had a 7 foot 1 piece Mojo surf rod and wasn't impressed with the feeling and action of it. It didn't cast well like I thought it would and was way too stiff. The Seage has impressed me much more and I find it to be an excellent replacement for the Mojo. I like how lightweight it is and that it isn't so stiff vs the Mojo. It has the perfect touch of flexibility at the tip and casts very smoothly with great distances.

I only use St. Croix and G. Loomis. The St. Croix rods hold their own in strength, sensitivity and the fact that they make 2 pc. rods in just about all sizes is a real plus for me.
