Stromberg Carlson VGD-10-4000 Louvered Tailgate, Dodge 4000 Series

Received quickly but it did not fit. Returned easily. 5 star for quickness and quality

I had to send this one back. It's poorly designed particularly in the way it is installed. Once in, you have to completely uninstall it to open up the bed of the truck. You can't just lay it down as you would normally with a truck tailgate.

I bought this due to owning and towing a fifth wheel frequently. I’m still adjusting to having it on the back of the truck vs a full tailgate (which I kept). It’s a lot lighter and not quite as sturdy BUT: it’s definitely easier to hook up the trailer and I don’t have to hassle with the tailgate when hooking and unhooking the trailer (which is a HUGE relief to be honest - how often to you forget about the tailgate? It’s a thing).Only 4 stars for materials - in my mind I wonder if getting a full aluminum gate would have been better?

VERY simple installation. I saw all these other reviewers describing their insurmountable odds when installing this tailgate. I only wonder why they're not living under full time supervision if this escapes them. The instructions are in plain English and the product description clearly states what years and makes this will fit. The instructions call for two people, not to brag but I installed it by myself in 15 minutes. If you're not even remotely mechanically inclined, this isn't for you and you probably shouldn't be towing a fifth wheel let alone driving or living un-supervised.

This tailgate is hard plastic. It marks up easily. If you bump it with lumber, it'll leave a light colored mark on the plastic.Easy enough to install. It looks okay. Ive had louvered tailgates before, this is nothing like the older ones. Lighter. Not sure how long this'll last in Arizona before it gets bleached out by sun. The CSR I spoke to at Stromberg was not very customer friendly. So this is a 1 time purchase from Stromberg. I'll not buy from them again.

This was the same exact one from camping world but much cheaper. They charged 699.00The install was a little tricky for us but we figured it out in about 30 minutes. It looks great on our truck. What a great value!!!

This is a plastic tailgate .. you can't stand on it or put anything on it over 100lbs .. but I bought it because it had an insert (that was metal) .. figure that one out.

Fell apart and broke in no time. Cheap plastic and poor construction.
