John Deere Farm Pond Fish Adventure Fishing Game, Ages 4 and Up

The 2 years and up children will really like this product if my grandchildren are any measure. The magnets on the end of the hook and on the fishes mouths are what allow the younger children to be successful without having to make more difficult hook to mouth alignments with purely mechanical fishing poles and fish. I found the magnets slightly weaker than I like and was able to place a strong refrigerator magnet next to both the mouths and the hook to make the magnetic attraction slightly stronger. This is a useful tip should the magnets become shocked from being thrown or swung sharply against a rigid surface. Weaker magnets are not as shock resistant as strong magnets. Strong magnets can pose a safety issue for children, especially if swallowed, so the magnets in this set seem ideal for children. The magnets are very well captured in sufficiently thick plastic and the parts are too large for children to ingest in my opinion.

I ordered three of these John Deere Electronic Fishing Poles for a very unusual reason: to use them for my book launch. You see, one of the characters in my book is obsessed with fishing and I wanted to come up with a different way to award prizes to attendees. The poles worked great and it was mostly adults (and very competitive adults at that...after all, at one point, a Color Nook was the prize) using them. They didn't break and everyone had fun. Highly recommended.

The toy is really cute and love that it makes sounds but the magnets are not strong enough for the fish. The fish have trouble getting on the hook and then don't stay on while it is beening reeled up, my son wasn't too happy about that. The line isn't that long, I guess that is a safety precaution, when you reel it up it goes so far up and then back down. I don't think it's going to last very long. Hope this helps,not trying to be negative, just honest.

My grandson is 3 and wanted to go "fishing". We started with the stick and string, but he couldn't catch the paper fish. So, we bought a cheap magnetic set at a dollar store. Magnets never worked.....it wouldn't even stick to the refrigerator. So, I saw this John Deere and bought it. He LOVES it. He loves the sounds and the magnets work so well. He always "catches" something. We now have bought him magnetic letter and numbers, so he also fishs for them and is learning her ABCs and numbers too. Like the old saying goes......"nothing runs like a Deere". Highly recommend it. Quality is there and price was worth it.

This is a great toy! My son plays hard with it! I don't know why people are complaining about the fish not floating. Where does it say this is a bath/water toy? My son sits on his bed/the sofa and fishes off the floor. Kids have great imaginations. We've also have large fridge magnets (alphabet letters) and made a game. I'll tell him to go fish for a "Q" and he tries to catch it. The song is hard to understand and the water noises sound like a toilet flushing which he thinks is hilarious. The pole telescopes down so we store it all in a cheap tool box we got from Walmart. We love this toy. The price is EXCELLENT!

I got this for my two-year-old for his birthday and am very disappointed in it. The magnet in the fishing pole is so weak, it's almost impossible to actually "catch" any of the fish! The only way to get one to stay on is to have an adult put it on. This defeats the whole purpose of "fishing" for the kids and is no fun at all. It also doesn't reel in all the way. I only give it two stars instead of one because my son does like to push the button on it that sings and makes noises. I definitely would not recommend buying this.

This was my grandson's favorite of all his Christmas presents. It is very well made. The magnets on the fish and hook work very well. Not only is his able to pick up fish but other things metals as you can imagine that a three year would figure out. The rod reels forward and backwards. It is very sturdy. I can't say enough great things about this product. I would recommend to anyone. Especially, those who fish and have small kids.

A great little pretend fishing rod, will be great to help my grandson with his coordination and special awareness skills.

Really good looking product, with fun sounds. My kids liked it, but the rod only winds in one direction. The line goes all the way out and then automatically winds in again after you get to the end of the line. This initially frustrated my kids and now they don't really bother winding the line at all. Otherwise, they have a lot of fun with it.

Reeling in action is lacking and there is no,casting feature.
