Excellent high-quality/low-cost landscape lighting transformer. It’s only 60W, so it can’t power much, even using LED lighting. The real selling point of this aside from the excellent quality to cost ratio is the wireless capability. I wanted the capability to turn my landscape lights on and off from my phone, from any location, and this provides that. The app is somewhat featureless and doesn’t offer much, but it does offer the ability to set a daily or weekly timer to automate your lights if you don’t want to do it manually every day. And most importantly, all of the hardware and software actually works, and works reliably. I’m impressed and would definitely recommend it. I wish this company would offer additional high wattage transformers with similar features.

My previous SMY 100W Transformer burned out after about 18 months of use likely caused by a short where water got into the underground wiring. So I did an extensive rewire of my eight 5W LED Lights so that all connections are above ground. This transformer is compact, light, efficient, easy to install, with a simple design and at a very reasonable price, especially since it has Wi-Fi & Alexa capability. It was one of the easiest devices to connect to Wi-Fi that I've encountered. I have a smart home with around 85 devices connected to my router, so I understand problem devices. Many manufacturers including Dewenwils have their own apps that they want you to install, but this device works perfect installed using SmartLife, which even brought in the exact model icon into the app. So I have no doubt that the Dewenwils app is based on the SmartLife app that is mentioned in the instructions. Connect it up, put it on your wall, open SmartLife, press and hold the power button on the device, and then when its in pairing mode click Add in SmartLife. After 30 to 50 seconds it connected and worked! Transformers usually last a long time, so with my new wiring, I'm hoping this one lasts years.

So far so good. Make sure you know how to change your router to 2.4ghz if you have a 5ghz router wifi signal. You can get into your router by using your IP address and password on your router. I tried to connect the transformer on 5ghz and it would not let me, but once I switched to 2.4ghz the transformer connected. You then can switch your router back to 5ghz and the until will be just fine, you just have to connect through a 2.4ghz signal. A lot of modern routers have both 2.4 and 5ghz signals as well, so keep that in mind as you might be able to connect without getting into your router settings. Once it was hooked up, the app install was easy and the programing was super simple using the app. I used the timed on/timed off setting and everything is working just perfect. There are a ton of options on when you want the power to turn on and off, such as a timer, random, sunset, sunrise, etc. I have one box that is on the outside of my house pretty far away from my router and it picked up my wifi without issue. For the price and for use with only a few of low voltage outdoor lights, this thing is just what I was looking for. All the others on the market were for 100w, 200w, 300w worth of lights, but I only have about 25 watts of lighting and it handles that just fine. Hopefully these boxes can handle a few summers in the Arizona heat.

At first I couldn't get this to work. After looking at it further and doing some research, I realized that it was only good for up to 60 watts of lighting. I have 7 pathway lights, each had an 11 watt incandescent bulb. My electrician had told me that incandescent bulbs were better than LED for my pathway lighting because the heat from the bulbs would help with condensation. I could only get this transformer to turn on if I had 3 bulbs (33 watts total) plugged in. As soon as I plugged in a 4th bulb (44 watts), it would not turn on. So, I switched to 2 watt LED bulbs and BINGO the transformer works and all 7 pathway lights light up. I have this connected to my Alexa app, and have it scheduled for sunset to sunrise along with my other outdoor lighting. No more going out every couple of weeks and adjusting my old manual timer. The size is also nice. It is fairly compact so doesn't stand out in my garden.

Super happy with this transformer for our deck and landscape light. Opened box followed instructions, installed transformer, downloaded app, setup onto network - voila! Setup my automated timers with astronomical clock for sunrise/sunset then added off automation for midnight and 10 AM. Worked flawlessly now for more then a month. Took approx 15 minutes from start to finish. Took longer to install the lights into the deck and garden. Super happy!
