Liftmaster 8950 rolling sheet for roll up doors. Review: These openers worked great. You will love them... A few hints though.... - I have 3 of these openers. They open my roll up doors in my garage. They are 8x9 doors. I was going to get the shaft mounted drives but decided I wanted to spend the money and get the more heavy duty openers. I'm glad I did. These things are great. I had the doors set up already with chain gears when I installed them. I ended up removing them and used the chain gears that came with the openers. I would suggest doing this because most roll up door manufactures install chain gears that are to wide for the chains used in these openers. The only thing I wish Liftmaster would do is include longer chains. The chains that come with them are really short and I'm not sure how your supposed to install them with that short of chain. I ended up buying longer chains on desertcart (of course). You will need to do this also. I had 2 doors that mounted right side and 1 left side mount. I love that this opener has the option to mount both left and right side. Only issue I ran into is that on one opener the unit sprocket mounting holes were just a little off and I had to grind the end of the mount down a hair to get the screw to screw into the sproket straight It doesn't take much. It was hard to find detailed information about how the MyQ stuff worked on this opener. I wasn't sure I needed the hub and all the accessories to get it to connect. So I waited to install first. So the answer is, you DO NOT need a hub or any additional accessories to use all the automation. It is built right in and the instructions are pretty good in the manual to set it up. Only thing you need is a wireless network signal in your garage. This opener only comes with a really really ugly commercial button. They really need to change this. Its just a basic push button for operation. I ended up buying the Liftmaster 883LMW buttons and putting them on the wall. They operate the lights and I can program the unit from the button instead of getting a ladder everytime. Adjusting the door for range of motion is really easy. I was making it harder than it was. Its as easy as something like pressing the center button, press the down arrow, press the up arrow, then press the center button again and your done. That may not be exactly that but its something that easy. I was trying to make it more difficult. I have now programed a wireless door opener for the outside. Programed 3 cars to open all the doors with the built in remotes they came with and I bought 2 additional 3 button remotes to have if I need them. Programming is extremely easy. They are all yellow button compatible. I've had them installed now for 8 months and they have been working flawlessly. Make sure you put a little white lithium grease at the top of your roll up door tracks. The rubber on the doors will get dried out and stick to the top of the track. Makes harder work on the openers and will wear them out faster. They will also start whats called door chatter or door waddle. Not good when that happens. So far worth every penny I spent on them. The extra ceiling space in your garage alone is worth twice what I paid. Its awesome. You won't regret getting these. Review: Best opener type - Super easy install as all liftmaster products have been for quite some time. Did need to purchase a bit more chain to make work due to size of bracket that holds up door. Luckily it’s a standard bicycle chain size and is easy to find on short notice. Also is working just fine on a 14x14 door as long as everything works smoothly and spring tension is adjusted properly. Will definitely use another if I have the need for this type of opener. Have used many of the similar operators for live shaft doors and they all have been excellent.

Good but can be improved
Great seller, shipping was fast and came right on time. Bought it to automate the dead shaft roll up door, and it does exactly that. My door has a already installed chain hoist opener with gear reduction, so I was able to put together some other parts to make it work without messing with the existing setup. Overall I'm giving it 4/5 stars because: Pros: easy to install, very quick to install and seup and works with MyQ app on my phone. Overall the build quality is decent, about on par with 2 other Chamberlain/lift master residential garage door opener installed at home. It can open and closes the door at a decent speed, and has battery back up which is optional, but the battery is pretty standard size and you can get cheap aftermarket batteries. Cons: brackets is not very adjustable so alignment of the gears can take some time, and for the price it doesn't even come with one remote. Lastly the chain is not exactly standard size, but will work with the very common #41 chain, which is good. Also I'd like to give credit to one of the reviewers here for coming up with the idea of adapting a manual chain hoist roll up door opener to work with this unit, it made installation a lot easier, took me about an hour from start to finish.

The best ever
Something you needed and didn't know you needed. I don't know why it took me so long to install. And it came with everything needed (That's unheard of). The only issue I had was after the Wi-Fi was connected it was hard to connect it to the app.. but after talking to technical support. It was smooth sailing.

No key fob as represented in the page I ordered from
When I originally looked at the product online, it showed it came with a remote key fob and when I got it, it didn’t have one so I have no remote. Now I have to order a remote. For this price. It should come with one. I replaced it with an old LiftMaster from 2015. You would think that remote would’ve worked just not very satisfied with the way you have to buy everything separately. It’s already over $500.

Dead shaft install on a sheet metal coil door
Well built opener with latest feature of quick set for up and down location. Easy connect to WiFi for phone app MyQ connect. I had to hoist my door up with a block & tackle to slide sprocket and chain on. 12' X 12' door

Easy to install
I was able to adapt it to run the chain of a dead-shaft custom door.

Built tough
I have 2 of these. One is about 3 years old and has worked flawlessly. They seem to be very heavy duty and are easy to install. I gave 4 stars because it was a week for delivery but they got here 2 days after they shipped. Seems like the seller could get them out a little quicker.
