🌞 Illuminate your reptile’s world with intense UVB power!
The Exo Terra UVB 200 is a 26-watt compact fluorescent lamp engineered for reptiles with high UVB needs, especially in desert or tall terrarium setups. It enhances calcium absorption to prevent metabolic bone disease and works best when combined with complementary lighting for optimal visual effects.

Use it at your desk. Better than other "wakefullness" bulbs + get a tan.
I've been using this bulb for 6+ months now for room/task lighting. For me it noticeably helps wakefulness in mornings and throughout the day. Originally, I was using it along with another full spectrum bulb 8ft away from where I usually am in the room, I thought I noticed that it helped a little to wake up in the morning but wasn't sure. Then on somewhat of a whim, I decided to move it about 2ft away from me by my desk at home. At about the same time, independent of the bulb being closer, I started sleeping more. Once I rested up and overall got the exhaustion under control, I became certain that the bulb helps wakefulness and mood. I also got a light sunburn after having it on for 8-10hrs next to me... it took me longer than it should have to realize why, I was blaming the first occurrence on the medical bulb over me (I was assuming it was a xenon bulb) for a procedure that coincided with when I got burned LOL.I would estimate that it helps me with waking up and morning alertness by about ~20-30%. Once I get my circadian rhythm adjusted (more consistent to-bed time with 3mg 2-stage release melatonin 2hrs before bed to help that along) I may not notice the difference as much but it does help me for sure.I have tried a few full-spectrum bulbs, including an 0tt-lite, and this has been significantly better for mood, alertness and wakefulness. The color temperature is not like a full spectrum bulb. It has a hue not unlike a light-tint version of the blue+red LED grow lights you see around, but it is a light-moderate tint and not at all extreme like the LED grow lights. The perceptual Illumination that it provides per watt is less than you may expect for a CFL with what I would estimate off-the-cuff as 2/3 the illumination of a comparable wattage 5000K CFL bulb, but then, you probably don't want to be using this for much more than 4hrs at a time @2ft away if you are pale like me, but there is little to no UVC here so you could experiment and find what works for you. I mean hey, I have color in my face again, during the winter, so I'm happy about that too.I expect to continue to use it for waking and during the early evening as well as during the day on weekends (switching lights at 2hrs before bed) as it seems to help with alertness by varying degrees 10-30%(?) depending on other factors like nutrition and how much sleep I've had. For sure, turn it off 2hrs before you need to start sleeping or it will keep you up later than you probably want.I like this bulb a lot. I like it so much that I ordered a similar UVB T5 bulb for my desk at work.

We plan on ordering 2 more every winter time.
This is a fantastic price. This light bulb works excellent. We don't use it for all reptiles. We use it for ourselves and our home. During the winter season. It's very good for you and your body. It helps us get through the winter time.

Burned out in a day and a half
It worked fine for a day and a half and then wouldn't turn back on. I tried it in both outlets of a double dome heater and no dice. The heater itself is working because a different UVB bulb and ceramic heat bulb both work with it. Buying these things is a crap shoot - sometimes they're okay and at other times they're complete duds.

Needs better safety labeling
Good bulb if you know you need it, but...This bulb is crazy dangerous and should have more warning labels. I decided to test the bulb on myself before using it on my lizard, which I suppose sounds dumb because I am not a reptile but here is what happened.I sat with the bulb directed on my arm while I was working at the computer for 1 hour and 30 minutes (I meant to only do 30 minutes but I got caught up in work, this works out because I imagine a lizard could fall asleep under the lamp too). I had the light set up so that it would be about 15 inches away from my arm because that would be the closest that my lizard would be able to get to the lamp.I clipped up a sheet to keep the light out of my eyes while working on the computer. At the end of all of this I ended up with terrible burns but couldn't even feel that I was getting burned. The burns were really really bad and took a month and some to really heal.So um, at the end of this I can't figure what reptile needs uvb like this. (To be honest, possibly something exotic that I am not experinced with needs this bulb, but no standard pet shop lizard)Not to mention I'm glad that I put up a sheet to protect my eyes, I'm sure I probably would have accidentally damaged my eyes if I hadn't.I can only imagine what would happen to a reptile, let alone its eyes, if put in an enclosure that is too small with this lamp.I have to say it is an incredible lamp that really produces the uvb it says.I just worry that less experienced people getting into herp culture might misuse this lamp and it should have much more explicit labeling about the possible damage that could be done to your reptile or yourself.I have to say that I did have a small skin issue going on, on my hand at the time of this experiment and the couple of weird little red bumps I had were long gone after doing this. Honestly though it's probably just because all the skin was burned and had to grow back...Anyway, I am the kind of person who wouldn't let my dog eat anything that I wouldn't eat. I know it might sound extreme but that's how I feel.My lizard is a tiny southern alligator lizard from California, we recently moved to Massachusetts. I was worried since it snows for a good part of the year that in our apartment he wouldn't get the proper ambient uvbs.Turns out he is 100% fine with his usual 13w 100uvb bulb.I hope this review was helpful to someone and doesn't sound completely crazy.

Solid purchase!
I purchased these lights to use in my sound studio. I spend many hours in my studio under artificial light. Fluorescent lighting is unhealthy for humans, and saturated exposure over long periods time can lead to serious health risks. UVB light are just as beneficial for humans (especially those with heritage from tropical regions) as they are for reptiles. Being that I only had them in use for a couple of weeks I can't yet comment on the duration of these Exo Terra UVB 200 lights, I can however comment on how easy on the eye and naturally bright they are. I have noticed they need to warm up for around 5-10 minutes to be fully lit, which is can be good for the human eyes to adjust. So far so good and would recommend to anyone looking to purchase UVB lights.
