A perfect choice for indie comic and zine creators
This is a noticeable upgrade from standard copy paper. The extra weight gives it a sturdy, high-quality feel, and the smooth surface makes both text and images pop. I use it mainly for mini comics, zines, and small specialty print runs, and it delivers every time. It's laser paper so laser prints come out razor-sharp, with deep blacks and clean contrast that make pages look professionally produced with black and white and color comics. Even with an inkjet printer, the results are impressive, no smearing, no bleed, and excellent color clarity. –Nathyn Brendan Masters Night Phoenix Press It runs clean through printers, no jams or curling, and the heavier weight helps booklets fold neatly and hold their shape. It’s also bright white, which helps art and text stand out, especially in black-and-white layouts.

A dream for colorists who use alcohol markers!
I've been experimenting with paper. My primary medium is alcohol markers and paper type really does matter. I tried these 28lb paper and it was fantastic but I was looking for something that was a bit more substantial but I'm not the biggest fan of cardstock so I figured I'd try this. I expected it to be great. And it absolutely is. The smooth finish and thickness makes it great for alcohol markers. Though that's not what this paper is advertised for, it is incredibly compatible. It has never jammed in my printer and I print a LOT. After printing, the ink doesn't smear when I color over the lines with my markers. Because of the weight of the paper, it can hold more ink which allows for much smoother blending than lightweight paper. I do use colored pencils over top of my markers and this paper is toothless so I didnt expect my pencils to be magical or anything on the paper. Again, to my surprise, they behaved very well on the surface. As a dedicated colorist, I am thrilled to have found this brand of premium paper. Even cheap markers will behave beautifully on the right surface. And this right here is IT.

Awesome for writing
I use this for my intake paperwork for work. I write REALLY hard and use 0.5 needle tip pens. This holds up to my writing and is smooth! Printing looks crisp and clear. Definitely recommend.

Good for double sided documents
I bought this 30 lb paper in order to print double sided black and white documents so that the print is not as noticeable on the other side. For the price per page, it does well.

An excellent "multi-purpose" paper for the office or home
It's hard to review paper objectively when a lot of people don't think much of paper to begin with. Unfortunately paper is categorized in many "confusing" classifications for the average office worker, student and do-it-yourself photo printer to be of any real indication of "quality". I'll do my best to clarify paper "roles" and "grading" along with my quick review of the Hammermill Ultra-Smooth 32lb series. Paper is generally classified under weight (density), brightness (white value or color intensity value), and task (purpose or role). Weight is basically the measurement of how thick a piece of paper is, or how dense it is. The brightness is a measurement on a scale of 1-100 (although marketing may now claim numbers above 100) of how bright the color of the paper is; usually most of the time of how "white" the color appears. The task of a paper is its generally suggested role (copy paper, photo paper, multi-purpose, etc) and usually accompanied by what type of printer best gives the results needed (such as Inkjet or Laser). This particular paper series from Hammermill can be best described as "The best Jack of All Trade Papers" I've used. It's thick enough for reports and fliers but not too thick to be considered entry level card stock. It's bright enough for presentation graphics and high contrast images but does not produce photo images well enough to replace glossy paper, and it can be considered a good all around paper for quality prints without costing an insane amount of money if high quality matte was used on all print outs. The finish on the paper is lightly glossy, so there is a small sheen to the paper but it isn't really apparent enough for photo re-prints. Simple graphics (especially high color contrast images) do indeed look very nice on the paper. My biggest gripe with the paper is that it's not sturdy enough (considering it's 32lb grade) for duplex image printing without "wrinkling". Heavy paper and photo paper is specifically designed not to wrinkle when loaded with a lot of ink (hence their name) and I was kinda hoping this Hammermill paper would be able to hold its own in the image department. However heavy images on one side of the paper is enough to make it wrinkle on the other side making it an "average" image quality paper. The brightness is also not very impressive once again considering it's "98 GE" rating when I really consider it more of a 94 to be accurate. I would highly recommend this paper thus as supplementary to reports, presentations, and paper proejcts where you might contain some extremely high quality transparencies or photo print outs to give a more complete professional feel, rather than printing an entire report for example on photo paper which may seem like a bit too much (if not a bit tacky). For the home user, it's a great alternative for the children and the family printer for every-day decent quality photo/image print-outs without breaking the bank on glossy photo sheets. There's nothing else much to say other than this series of paper being the best "professional multi-purpose" every day paper you could possibly use. For students and every day print jobs, it's overkill. For business and professional tasks, it's the perfect balance between quality and value. For artists, photographers, proofreaders, and other graphic intensive applications; it's only good enough for draft work unfortunately. In the end I like it for what it is; a printer's reliable multi-tool.

I love Hammermill paper. 32lbs is my fave weight. I need this ream for a project or I would have returned it. Amazon did not package it properly and I have 75 sheets banged and bent. 15% of my purchase damaged. I think Jeff is rich enough, he can let his employees take the extra 10 seconds to make sure my purchase arrives in good order. Note to the review process of this review. This paper is some of the best I’ve used. It’s so soft and the thickness is absolutely perfect! It’s definitely high quality. I can’t believe it’s this cheap to be honest. I will only be buying this paper from now on. So glad I tried it. Most definitely worth the money! I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

This paper is great for double sided printing and it's not easy to find. Plus, being so heavy, the free Prime shipping is such a plus!
