Over-roasted coffee
Read al lot of positive comments, decided to try. Ordered 3 different packages. However coffee doesn’t meet the expectations. Coffee should be light to medium roast but in the package it is strong roast, which nobody likes at home. I will continue buying my local brand, where the roast intensity is stable. Had so much hopes for this coffee and it turned into completely waist of money.

I didn't have high expectations with buying packaged coffee on Amazon, but this surprised me. I've tried the Ethiopian Sidamo Guji (light roast), the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (medium roast) and the dark roast Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. The medium Yirgacheffe is great, extremely good coffee. The Ethiopian Sidamo Guji is not the best I've had from that region, but it is absolutely the best I've had in this price range, I've paid more than 50% more for roasts better than this. I didn't like the dark roast, but I don't really like any dark roast coffee I've tried, was just curious since I've never had a dark roast Ethiopian, didn't know that was a thing. I will say despite not liking the dark, it was roasted well, dark, but the beans weren't burnt or anything. This coffee has a great consistency. The beans have been fresh across multiple orders, great bloom (these beans are REALLY thirsty, they soak up a ton of water on bloom). I do french press with coarse grind, and the light and medium roasts do have the subtleties and complexities I'd expect from Ethiopian, hints of citrus, blueberry and chocolate with the Sidamo and the Yirgacheffe is a mellow everyday brew I enjoy. Some of the flavors in the Sidamo Guji are a bit muted, but that will vary from roast to roast and with brewing temperature and time. I'm more inclined to think I'm still working on the brew than that it's an issue with the beans, because a few times I've gotten them just right and it's been blissful. These were a pleasant surprise and I'm happy to recommend them and buy again. ============== Edit - September 2024 Okay, here goes amazon merging these products and reviews again. This portion of the review is for the Organic Rwanda, I bought a 2lbs bag. It's really tasty! Reminds me a bit of the Ethiopian Sidamo Guji beans, but the flavor of the Rwanda is less complex, with fewer flavor notes. and heavier on the citrus side. Tastes a slightly acidic, but it's smooth. It's a light cup, almost has a tea-like flavor and mouth feel though with more of a thicker malt mouth feel than something like ceylon or assam tea. I've been drinking a few mugs of it daily the last few days, and it's a very enjoyable brew.

Excellent, received fast. Saved a ton compared to the other fresh roaster in GA who jacked up their prices way too high almost $90 and it aint organic cert. Will stay right here to order again. Plus this light roast is truly best way to taste sidamo in its truest form imo. Looks like peaberries too which i didnt recall before overall outstanding my whole house smellslike heaven WHAT A HAPPY CUP worth treating yourself!

Like others have said I'm no coffee coinsure but I appreciate a truly good cup of coffee and I feel that this brews into a great cup. I was actually a little surprised how much the three of us in my household enjoy this coffee. I'm not sure why, but I had expected this coffee to be closer to Folgers than something found on a shelf of coffees with a higher price tag. To be honest I bought this coffee because of the reviews here, and the price. But what really inspired me was seeing a TV show that highlighted the coffee from this region. I looked this coffee up on the internet and what I found was that it's well respected, but still felt the show was probably exaggerating a little. Eventually I decided on the two pound bag of the whole bean and placed in an airtight container thinking I would use it when as a fill in when one of our favorites ran low or use it as a change up. But my wife took the container out looked at the coffee, smelled it and decided to give it a try right off, and it's become one of the few coffees we keep on hand. So the three of us really enjoy this coffee, we've used three different brewing methods and in our opinion it works great in each. The first time my wife brewed this, she used the a Chemex 6 cup Slow drip method, and it has a wonderful rich clean taste without any hint of bitterness. In fact it seems to produce more of a slightly sweet taste, rather than anything approaching bitterness. We've also used a French Press and it works very well in the French press, but my personal favorite method is done with the AeroPress. When brewing this coffee with the AeroPress I keep pretty close to the instructions that come with the device. I do use a little more coffee than the instructions suggest, finding that the two slightly rounded scoops and about a half of another make a fantastic cup of coffee. Another reason I prefer using the AeroPress with this coffee is that it's dark enough to make a decent espresso. It's not going to be like using one of the truly dark roast coffees, but the flavor is very rich and enjoyable. in my opinion many medium roast coffees just do not lend themselves as well to this type of deeper extraction, not able to go beyond certain limitations. Over all this has become a favorite in our home, with a rich unique taste that is versatile enough to do well no matter which brewing method you might prefer. Finally yes I would recommend this to friends and family

This coffee is hands down one of the best I’ve had and I am always trying new ones. Actually this is the first time in a long time that I have repurchased the same coffee so soon. I got the 5lb bag this time and boy was I excited when I received it, it’s HUGE! So fresh and delicious I may just continue getting this. Priced very well also. I can’t rave about it enough. Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC is the greatest!
