Batteries are required for the thermostat.

I changed mine,I don't think.it changes automatically.

Q: My control box is broken,if i buy this will it sync with the current reciever box i already have installed or will it all have to be replaced?

No it will not sync with your current reciver but the unit is supplyed with a reciver unit which will require connecting to your bolier.
