My view of the ar9271 and it's functionality
This ar9271 device is great with debian and Kali Linux. So far I have tested ap mode on this device and of course 4G WiFi connectivity works. Speeds are pretty good especially for the price it is . If I am able to crack passwords and use it for other stuff I will update the review to include it so check back for that info in a month or whenever. You get off pretty good signal with it and the drivers are already installed in Linux.

Not too shabby
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Not terrible for a budget option. Gets decent gain.

Works with Wireshark in windows 11
I expected a hassle to instal drivers or perhaps only be able to run this through WSL, it works way better than expected. Plug it in, go to windows optional updates and you will see the Atheros driver pop up if it didn’t automatically install. Wireshark recognizes this right away. I’m sure it works great as a standard WiFi adapter compatible with 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

Good, but not good enough
I bought it because it had compatibility with Linux as my machine didn't have Wi-Fi driver support. It works but it's rate limited and while I do get WiFi it's much slower than I had hoped for. I liked the cheaper price but failed to notice it's 2.4ghz only. If I were to purchase again I'd go for a different dongle with better Wi-Fi support.

Open Source Drivers - Linux Ready
OPEN SOURCE. This is one of the very few wifi devices that are not spying on you. The rest are closed source and do whatever the manufacturer wants without your being able to know what they are doing. External antenna easily attaches. Totally compatible with bare bones Debian install. Forget about that closed source wifi card that came with your computer. Just attach antenna and plug this in. No need to locate drivers. No closed-source copy-righted back-door-infused spy-ware. Did you notice how cheap it is?
