One can never go wrong with Daniel Smith. Great paint. Good mixing colors. I have these colors personally so can speak to them even though this was for a gift rather than for myself. Lovely useful colors. Great starting place for quality. Handy to have the nice little plastic case too. Not a fan of plastic in general, but it has its useful moments and storage and carry are among those. He will be able to put it in his luggage and not worry and pull it out easily if need be for customs. The water color ground is also a plus, though I would have been just as happy with larger tubes and case. Or a dot card set. Or another little trio of cmyk primaries. In this case I got these and a palette and a dot card set for him to choose the rest of his colors. And a sketch book. Hoping he will enjoy, but we'll find out after Christmas! One can travel with watercolor but one does need to check the airport regs for the size of ziplock required and other things. But this little set is well within travel limits and small/easy to pack. So good for a visiting budding artist.

UNBELIEVABLE!! What a DIFFERENCE!! Puts all brands to shame. A little bit goes a long long way. You can use an entire pan of one color of any other brand and still not get the color of one tiny dot of this brand. Well worth every penny. The brilliance is absolutely gorgeous. You can go as light and dark as you want. You CAN create anything with these Daniel Smith brand. I’m switching entirely over to Daniel Smith paints. Adding Arabic Gum makes profound results! I’m in awe! Endless creativity!! It’ll give you new ways to create - possibilities are endless! I can’t say enough how much I love this brand! I’m blown away!!

I was worried these weren't legit because of the price but I'm certain this is actually Daniel Smith paint. I compared it directly to my previous set from an art store and it looks identical. The price is ridiculously low here, grab it while you can! The colors are gorgeous and rich, and no brand re-wets in a pan like Daniel Smith. This set comes with a watercolor ground that acts like a primer for use on any surface you want to paint on. And it comes with a cute plastic storage case for your tubes to keep them fresh. This is a perfect introductory set for artists looking to try watercolor! If you're looking for a nice compliment to this set, get the Jean Haines 10 tube set available here too.

I highly recommend this set to anyone who has any interest in watercolor at all. When you are just beginning and what to give it a try or are looking to level up with some better quality paints, this set is the next step. The split primary colors included allow you to mix nearly any color (even though it is hard to believe). The pigmentation is great, it is lightfast, and it spreads easily. The value is absolutely unmatched as well. I have never seen individual tubes even close to the price that these ultimately are. Plus you can try the watercolor group. Even though the tubes are small, they last forever because of how pigmented they are. Even with regular practice this set could last you years.

A good value for beginning watercolor painters, allowing them to try professional grade paint and get all six of the split primary colors, allowing unlimited opportunities for mixing other colors. Daniel Smith paint does seem to have more water in it than other professional paints such as Winsor Newton, causing more shrinkage when dried in a paint tin for future use. Of course the larger tubes of paint are more economical to buy but somewhat pricey for a newbie to purchase 6 large tubes when not sure if they’ll stick with the hobby.

These are very nice watercolors. I bought them for a Christmas gift.

I like the paints and it’s nice to have some tubes to blend my own colors. It’s a good quality, although not all the colors are as vivid as I would like. I probably won’t get any more Daniel Smith

Excellent set of primary colours. The tubes are small, but the pigment is rich, and a tiny amount goes a long way. The watercolour grounds are excellent. I was so pleased with the paints and watercolour grounds that I bought the larger sizes. I will save the smaller sizes for painting outdoors in the spring and summer months. You can mix far more colours than in the handy colour chart that comes with it. Just vary the amounts. Daniel Smith watercolour paints are excellent quality, rich in pigment and excellent lightfastness. I pour small amounts into pans and they rewet easily. No wastage. Very happy with this product.

I colori sono veramente incredibili la qualità è più che ottima in più troverete all'interno un opuscolo con dei dettagli veramente ben costruiti su come creare i colori secondari e successivamente utilizzarli l'opuscolo è in italiano e in francese mi sembra proprio interessante anche se queste informazioni potrai trovare su internet un prodotto che vale la pena al costo proposto sicuramente

These are lovely paints, and they are lasting surprisingly long, for such small tubes. I mix my own colours, from just these three primary colours (which come in both cool and warm, in this set), so I don't need any other colours. I've posted a photo with samples of each of the colours, and with colours I've mixed from them.

Good paint
