Purpose Of A Dew Shield: A dew shield keeps out stray light that usually comes from streetlamps or houses. In addition, the shield prevents water vapor from getting onto the lens. The Seestar does have a heater for the lens but this is not a dew protector. If you are in an environment where the scope will form moisture, simply wipe off the scope when you are finished imaging but don't touch the lens. The dew shield and the built-in heater will protect the lens. Steve Perfect Fit: Dew shield snaps on tightly and is easy to take off. Extremely Well Made: Made of hard plastic that will not crack. Fits In Seestar Case: Put the shield through one of the legs and close the lid tightly.

This dew and stary light shield works will on a See Star S50. If you put it loosely in place and forget it before telling the SeeStar to stow, it will just get pushed off. It's cheap, it works, it is just a plastic cylinder. If you are having trouble with stray light or dew, buy one.

I can confirm that this fits snugly on the end of my Seestar S50. It fits well enough that it will not fall out and isn't going to damage the telescope (unless you close the arm while it's attached. I doubt the telescope could push it out when trying to close. I don't want to try it for fear of damage to the telescope). It's a nicely made part. If I had to guess, it's probably made from injection molded ABS. Not 3D printed like many accessories are for the S50. It has a little bit of shine to it like in the picture, but is not overly shiny. I don't think it's enough that it would reflect light down into the telescope. Overall it does a good job of blocking unwanted light from going into the optics of the telescope.

Works well but very tight fit. Almost too tight. If you forget to remove it from your seestar it will cause damage. Keep that in mind

I was very happy with the quality of the product. The surfaces are smooth and the interior surface appears to have a matte finish to reduce internal reflections. It fit my Seestar s50 very well. I have not had a chance to try it out yet to see how much it helps my imaging. But it looks like it should work well.

This does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I’ve been getting better images after buying this dew shield because it’s cutting down extraneous light from my neighbor’s light. I normally run my dew heater so I’m really only using this as a light shield.
