Finally Found the Perfect Apple Watch & WHOOP Replacement
After three years of wearing a WHOOP and dealing with my Apple Watch's frustrating daily charging routine, I decided to try the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar. Three weeks in, and I'm genuinely impressed. Battery Life is a Game-Changer The Garmin came out of the box with 38 days of battery life. Let that sink in – 38 DAYS compared to my Apple Watch that needed charging every single night. The solar charging feature means I may go even longer between charges depending on sun exposure. This alone makes it worth the switch. Accurate Health Tracking I was skeptical about whether the Garmin could match my WHOOP's data accuracy, but I've been wearing both side-by-side to compare. The sleep tracking, heart rate, and HRV readings from the Garmin have been remarkably consistent with the WHOOP. For anyone considering dropping their WHOOP subscription, the Garmin delivers comparable metrics without the monthly fee. Rugged Design The 50mm size with metal reinforcement feels solid and durable – this is built for the outdoors. It's a significant departure from the sleek Apple Watch aesthetic, but if you prioritize function over fashion, you'll appreciate the rugged construction. Overall Impression Three weeks in, I'm very pleased with this purchase. The combination of incredible battery life and accurate health metrics makes the Instinct 3 an excellent choice for anyone tired of constantly charging their smartwatch or paying for WHOOP subscriptions.

Finally – The Updated Instinct I’ve Been Waiting For! (Garmin Instinct 3 50mm AMOLED – Neotropic)
I’ve been rocking the original Tactical Instinct for many years now, and that beast has been absolutely bulletproof – still going strong after all this time, which is rare for any smartwatch. But I’ve been itching for an update, especially one with a vibrant screen, and the Garmin Instinct 3 50mm AMOLED in Neotropic finally delivers. This thing is a massive step up while keeping that rugged Instinct DNA I love. The 1.3-inch AMOLED display is gorgeous – bright, colorful, and super easy to read even in direct sunlight or low light. It’s a huge improvement over the old monochrome screen without sacrificing too much battery life (I’m getting solid multi-week usage in smartwatch mode). The health and training features are next-level: • Advanced wrist-based heart rate monitoring that’s accurate during workouts and all-day tracking. • Pulse Ox (blood oxygen) for around-the-clock monitoring – great for sleep insights and altitude adventures. • Enhanced sleep tracking, stress monitoring, Body Battery energy levels, and HRV status. • Tons of built-in sports apps, adaptive training plans via Garmin Coach, daily suggested workouts, and detailed metrics for running, cycling, HIIT, and more outdoor activities. Plus, it keeps all the tough stuff: military-grade durability, multi-band GPS, built-in LED flashlight (super handy), metal-reinforced bezel, and that classic Instinct toughness. The Neotropic colorway looks sharp too – that vibrant green/twilight combo stands out without being flashy. The watch itself is outstanding – highly recommended if you’re coming from an older Instinct like I am. The only downside? Amazon’s delivery. It took 12 days to arrive, which feels excessive in 2026. Tracking showed it bouncing from the West Coast (Cali) to the East Coast (Maryland) before finally landing in Florida. I’ve noticed this happening more often with Prime orders lately – maybe it’s just bad luck, but it was frustrating. Not the watch’s fault, though! If you’re after a rugged, feature-packed update to the Instinct series with that beautiful AMOLED screen, this is it. Worth every penny. 🚀 I might upload some pics later if I can do it justice!

Great watch/tracker for the active person
Coming from a Fitbit, there is a lot more data with the garmin. Fits and wears like a regular watch and very comfortable. Metrics like steps, heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate etc were identical to the Fitbit. The biggest difference I found is the sleep tracking, which is very different from the Fitbit. The garmin gives you a much more descriptive detail. The Fitbit says I slept better, while the garmin states not much restorative sleep continuously regardless of what I try. I haven’t had the opportunity to see how well the solar charging is. Pros - great activity tracker Data metrics are easily readable The app is also easy to use and navigate Completely customizable watch face Battery life is great. I get roughly 2.5 weeks out of one charge. (Along with disabling notifications) Cons Tracking sleep seems off, but I’m still getting used to it so probably just a learning curve As with most smart devices, every notification imaginable is enabled by default. I’ve spent quite a bit of time disabling almost every notification. Special charging cable. Fitbit does the same thing - would like to see it be a universal type c charger!

Love this watch, has everything you need. I was looking at the data as I use for running and it has the same run features as the more expensive 265. The torch and redshift actually come in handy too. Battery life is fantastic, getting 2 weeks and that’s also using it for 1-2 hr daily activities

I am using this watch for 10 days now. It has everything I wanted. It is giving me a great battery backup. GPS Accuracy is amazing. Will surely recommend it. Just remember it has no touch feature, it uses buttons.
