Wilkinson Vintage Classic Alnico 5 Overwound Open Style Neck Humbucker Pickup for Electric Guitar, Zebra

Completely blown away by this pickup. Sound is loud and clear and excellent tone. I normally use Dimarzio, Duncan or similar quality pickups in my guitars, but I wanted to try something different and this pickup really surprised me. Added it to my Westcreek Revenge with a Stewmac humbucker in the bridge and the combination is incredible. It is pointless paying hundred for a single pickup when a pair of matched Wilkinsons (14.1V) pickups will easily compare for around 100 bucks.

Für eine alte Yamaha RGX aus den 90ern, eine ziemlich vergessene strat- artige Gitarre. Hier wurde alles richtig gemacht- dickes Palisander, schöne Schalter und Knöpfe, hochwerige Tuner, komplexe Saitenlagerung... aber die hohe E- Saite klang einfach unschön und insgesamt lieferte das Instrument nicht die nötigen Klänge, weder für clean noch für Zerrung. Auch Apple's wunderbarer digitalzauber konnte daran nur wenig ändern. Schließlich habe ich die gesamte Elektrik rausgeworfen und nur ein Wilkinson Zebra- Neck-Pickup direkt an die Klinkenbuchse gehängt. Gelb ist hot (üblicher Weise sonst rot) und die Schirmung mit der Masse an den Außenring gezinnnt. Was soll ich sagen, es macht Spaß auf einer guten Gitarre zu spielen die gut klingt. Die Fertigungsqualität der PUs kann nicht schlecht sein, der Klang ist jetzt reichhaltig und angenehm. Ich schätze die Humbucker als ziemlich universell ein. Dürfte auch in einer Paula eine gute Figur machen. Live- Erfahrung mit großem Verstärker steht allerdings noch aus.

I put the Vintage Classic Overwound Alnico 5 neck model in the neck position of a warmoth parts-tele I bought used. It had a true single-coil P90 in the neck (Tele custom) and I wanted to put a HB in. Great price prompted me to try this and I had good success with Wilkinson trems and other guitar parts.. This Alnico 5 classic overwound is versatile for me, feels that slightly bit overwound (which I like in a neck position), has an "airy, harmonic" quality to the tone yet provides great response to picking dynamics and it sounds great at 10/10 or with vol/tone messing about. Hats off to Wilkinson for providing this great value on a pro sounding pickup.
