Insect Lore Funtastic 4 Cups of Caterpillars – 20 Live Painted Lady Caterpillars with Food, Chrys-A-Lid Holding Log Included, Refill for Butterfly Garden Habitat, STEM Learning

I purchased the kit with 2 cups and it turned into 10 beautiful butterflies. I purchased a 2 cup "refill" and it turned into 9 beautifull butterflies and 1 that the wings didn't fully inflate. So, I then 1 purchased this 4 cup "refill" and now I have 21 caterpillars growing amazingly fast. Looking forward to lots of butterflies. I actually have released the butterflies into my apartment since I several Aerogarden Bounty Elite hydroponics gardens with all kinds of plants blooming and the butterflies seem very happy drinking the nectar from the blooms (and pollinating them too!). Although I can and have hand pollinated the various blooms, where is the fun in hand pollination?

The caterpillars arrived in good condition, but two of the cups contain only 4 caterpillars rather than the five per cup as listed in the item description. No sign of the 2 caterpillars in question, alive or dead.

Only 3 out of the 20 butterfly larva completed their life cycle from this order, which means the rest of them did not even successfully form a chrysalis and died in a very visually disturbing way for our students to see. I am beyond disappointed considering I spent $40 and to no good end for these living creatures or toward my second graders learning. There is also nothing to be done about it except to tell you what a bad experience this was. I would love a refund but there is nothing for me to return for it except this honest review. We will have to try another source next year I guess.

I was pleasantly surprised that all of the caterpillars came alive and they all hatched. I even when ordering in the winter. Very well priced for the amount of caterpillars received.

My kindergarten team and I love ordering each year!! The caterpillars are always active and my students love watching them grow into butterflies.

Some of the catapillars didn't make it but most did. My kids love watching them grow and releasing them in our garden.

Ordered 20 cups of caterpillars and only 3 of the cups had live crawling bugs. 2 of the cups got tipped in transit and the food covered the caterpillars which killed them. The remaining cups that we received have very tiny caterpillars that look crusty and some are a little bigger but no longer moving and appear to not be alive. Very disappointed overall
