Very Nice Radio for What it is and the Price, and Versatile. Plus BUG FIX
I do really like this radio. The stereo sound is good for a small, compact kitchen radio. (Of course it won't match your 200 watt Onkyo receiver with Paradigm speakers in the living room.) I use it about 50% for FM radio and 50% to Bluetooth my SC Public Radio from my phone. But it's great to also be able to blast some CDs when I have a craving. Everything works. You should read through the instructions to get the finer points, as I just did after 4 months. *NOTE: At least one reviewer has stated that their radio worked for a while but then they could not get any sound out of it. This does seem to be a fluke with this unit. But I found that all you have to do when this happens is pull the power plug out of the back of the radio and plug it back in. Then it works fine again. I guess you could also pull out the wall plug; whichever is easier for your setup. I hope this helps and everyone doesn't have to send theirs back. (Of course, if you send it back the mfgr or Amazon is going to plug it in and say "Look, it works fine."

Sylvania-SKCR271 - Item sent was not the item ordered - photo does not match item
The purpose of a 'clock radio' is to be a 'clock' so that you can tell time and a 'radio' which picks up signals of a station and plays the sound. In addition to the photo of the product shown on Amazon not matching the product - one is gray in the photo but what was sent (and returned) is black - the panel which is all black with tiny indications of what to push for what purpose is both hard to see and impossible to negotiate making it, for me, totally inadequate. When I tune to a station, I expect the display to show the various frequencies until I arrive where I want and then revert to showing the clock. This radio never reverts to the clock but rather shows only the frequency - forever. Unhelpful! If you press display, the time will show momentarily but the display quickly reverts to the frequency. When you play a CD, the display shows what cut is playing and how many seconds have passed the whole time the CD is playing never reverting to show the correct time. Whoever designed such a product must have no idea what 'clock radio' means. Whoever thought it a good idea to make black remotes and black face plates for items often in a darkened room along with tiny letters indicating function obviously never used the product they designed or they would have seen the flaws. At first I thought I could live with the inadequacies so I placed white adhesive dots on the faceplate to indicate up and down volume, on and off and display. Then I discovered that the reception at least in my house which has a metal roof was spotty - fading in and out while I was in the shower seemingly dependent on the position of my arm. I looked for a place to attach an external antenna and found none - another reason NOT to buy this product. So here, I have outlined several reasons NOT to buy this product and I am baffled by the good reviews which are posted here which makes me doubt reviews as being authentic. I will reserve my judgement until I see if my review is posted or not. Under 'rate features' do you find it strange that 'reception' is not a quality to be rated? How about 'ease of use'?

Great little guy
Well... I've finally retired this radio after 11 years. It was a great little radio, playing WXPN and NPR at all hours of the day. This was purchased May 2015 as a Sylvania brand. Over time, the buttons have started to get a bit wonky.. the plastic covers have peeled away, and when you try to hit 'power' you get the timer, or you change the source. The sound quality was never great, but the WXPN 88.5 radio reception (out of Philadelphia) started to get a bit static-y so it was time for something new. Or in this case.. old. A used Sony ICF-CDK50 with better sound quality has been installed. There just aren't alot of exciting options for under the cabinet radios. Thanks Sylvania - I'll miss you!

Good sound
I do like it. Conveniently mounted under the kitchen cabinet (you'll need to drill four holes large enough to for the bolts it comes with) Instructions were easy enough to understand. My only complaint. . . I have it programmed for certain stations and at certain volumes. However every single time I turn it on it blares at max volume for the first two seconds which is really loud/startling. After those two seconds it does go down to the correct volume but still. No way to fix this problem as far as I can tell. So I've resolved that instead of using the power button I just turn it down all the way to zero essentially leaving it on just turning it all the way down. This is why I'm giving it three stars. Had it not been for the volume issue I would give it five stars.

Works well and great space saver!
Was a little worried when I bought this because of the mixed reviews. When its comes down to it, this thing is made for a specific type of person. If you are just getting this for the fm radio it might not be for you. I bought this to save space on my counter and I wanted to have Bluetooth to play music through my phone as well as play some cds. It's not too easy to find something small that plays cds and has Bluetooth. The setup was pretty easy. They give you a template for mounting and it fits well. i will evaluate each different mode. The fm radio works ok. The reception isn't the best but I didn't think it would be because you can't put an antenna through the bottom of your cabinet. I can still pick up my favorite stations and most come in pretty good. The Bluetooth works excellent! Very easy to pair my phone. It beeps when it pairs with your phone every time and you can change the song on your iPhone by pushing the skip button on the player or on the little remote. No flaws there. The CD player works well. It is a typical CD player, nothing special. And the line in mode (aux) works well also. To me it is very user friendly and a great addition to my kitchen!

Great Device, Easy Installation
I altered the installation instructions slightly, but the installation went flawlessly. What I did differently was I drilled the holes from the top down instead of from the bottom up as instructed. I did it that way because I wanted a smoother look around the holes on the top of the shelf where they would be seen, and I didn't care if the wood chipped away a little when the drill broke through underneath the shelf because that would be hidden by the device once it was installed. I'm glad I did it that way too because the edges of the holes are rougher where the drill broke through. The other thing about the instructions I had to figure out is the drawing they provided to use as a template for drilling the mounting screw holes is not marked Front or Back to help you orient the template prior to drilling. The way I figured it out is there are three chassis screws at the back of the radio and two in the front, and the position of those chassis screws are marked on the template. These are not the mounting screws, but thankfully they were marked along the front and rear edges of the template. Use the position of these chassis screws on the drawing to help you orient the template front to back prior to drilling the mounting screw holes. The radio itself is a nice little feature packed unit that I haven't really got to test all the functions for yet, but those I have tested work perfectly. I bought it as a gift for a shut-in and she hasn't turned it off since she got it. I did some preset radio stations for her and she is as happy as can be with being able to use the remote to go between channels and turn the volume up and down etc. I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for an under-shelf unit.

A good replacement for the old SONY? Not so much.
I got this to replace an older SONY device. I think I made a mistake. I would have kept the SONY if it had a line-in plug for iPods etc. I thought getting the Sylvania with the line-in and Bluetooth would be the same as the SONY but a bit better. I was wrong. The good: The sound quality is decent. No real bass but I wasn't expecting too much. The older SONY sounded better though... It looks nice. Clean flat surface would be easy to clean I imagine. It's a bit smaller which is good for smaller kitchens. Bluetooth and line-in features both work well. The Bad: The display is awful. The numbers can be seen from a 3+ feet away, but if you are any closer and your eye level is any more than 12" higher than the display, it can't be read. At all. The display is small. The buttons are VERY small and difficult to press, and the labels for each button are written in a thin line font that is EXTREMELY small. The interface for setting a timer or tuning in a station is archaic. It is similar to how it was with old VCRs, having to punch a series of buttons and scrolling through numbers to set the thing to record the A-Team while you were at band practice. The stock radio in any car built after 1970 is 10x better than this thing. This is a poorly designed device. Yes, all the basic parts do work well, but the way they are assembled together show a lack of concern, and seemingly even contempt for the end user. It is difficult and unpleasant to use. It will be replaced.
