Stunning and reliable
This film stock never disappoints! I’m a location portrait photographer and I work with unpredictable light. Since my tutor told me about this stock years ago, I’ve probably only had 1 mishap, and that was for not storing exposed film in the fridge! No matter how bad you think the shoot goes, this film performs on the job, and renders beautiful tones post dev/scanned. It’s a winner.

An excellent colour negative film at a good price
A great film with quite muted colours designed for portrait work, but an excellent all rounder. More expensive than some, but I got a huge discount on Amazon because the packaging was damaged! In fact it was just one corner of the box which was a bit bashed, but the five films were fine, sealed in their foil packs.

My favourite
Using a Yashica Mat TLR this film is my favourite out of all I have tried, from the Ektar 100 (another nice film, but not as forgiving as this film) to Ilford and Fuji. This is great for newbies to 120 medium format - its easy and extremely flexible in lots of conditions, I've pushed and pushed this film to its limits and it always seem to reward me with great shots. great every day film use in my opinion and I always have rolls kicking around for all kinds of conditions. Highly recommended, the tones are great, real vintage quality, on the Mat the pictures are sharp and beautiful on this film Buy it, then come back and buy more

Portra 400
Used this in a Pentacon Six (I can only dream of owning a Hasselblad or Bronnie) and the results were brilliant. Slight softness on the example photographs from human errors, but as you can see how well the colours are produced. Compared to the likes of Ektar, I find Portra gives a more realistic look to life with better skin tone reproduction, whereas Ektar can have quite a blue cast. Very versatile film, more than recommend.

Fantastic look & feel to the iages, shame about the price
I'm a professional photographer and I shoot with the Mamiya 645 Pro. Portra 400 is an absolutely classic film stock and gives you a 'vintage' feel to your images that is awash with nostalgia. The only problem is the price. However, after hunting around online, I can only find it a few pounds cheaper on some of the 'online auction sites' and to be honest, I don't trust the expiration dates etc. - so happy to pay a bit extra and buy it on here. Great film though. Click 'HELPFUL' below if you found this useful ;)

Excellent 400ASA Film
This film is sometimes thought of as boring as it renders colours, especially skin tones in a neutral and accurate way. It is IMHO its advantage. It has good grain, beautiful tones and I expose it at either 320 or 200 but rarely at box speed. this however if my choice and I find slight over exposure works best for me. It is an alternative to Fuji Pro 400H which I also love to shoot. The Kodak is less expensive than the Fuji.
