This review is for the 4Tb SN850P, heatsink-included version. For starters, cut to the chase and check out the read speed in the photo, as it's blisteringly fast in real-world terms. A lot of people can probably stop reading at this point! Is this product the fastest *possible*? No, but I transferred 300Gb of games in 50 seconds with no issues before, during or after the process: read on for more detail. The fitting process was mildly faffy (have a MAGNETIC Philips #1 screwdriver to hand if you can), but that's a combination of Sony's fault (seriously, 99% of people use this form-factor, why put the spacer in a spot almost nobody will use, meaning almost everyone has to move it?!) and mine (big hands, no magnetic screwdriver in that size). I was a little wary as I got the 4Tb version as 'Used, good as new', saving a lot of cash in the process, but so far it's absolutely fine. Better than fine. Excellent, in fact. If, like I was, you are wavering over whether to get the SN850P (this one) or the SN850X (the newer, Sony-licensed version), for a PS5, stop wondering. Firstly, a lot of online info is out of date: the heat management improvement updates for the X model (Game Mode 2.0) have been applied to the 850P for some time now according to Tom's Hardware. Secondly, while the 850X does have higher theoretical read/write speeds, there's no detectable difference in real-world performance on PS5 (Pro) hardware. In a before-and-after comparison, games with a frame-rate overlay show exactly the same on the built-in storage versus my new SN850P, nor can I detect any difference whatsoever in actual play during demanding games like BG3. If it starts overheating or I get data corruption or gameplay issues, I'll come back and amend this review, but unless and until that occurs it's an exceedingly-rare 5 stars from me. Oh, and - unless you think you'd enjoy fishing a titchy screw out of a fan compartment - buy yourself that screwdriver if you don't already own one. Especially if you have big hands. Was a few pounds cheaper than the PS branded but it’s needed as the games are huge in file size and the hassle of redownlaoding and reinstalling takes all of the gaming time you can get these days. The games run just as fast and smooth as the original in built PS5 SSD. Only negative is that the PS5 realises it’s an SN850X and reduces the read/write speeds to match the SN850P which is custom modified 850X for the PS5. 5 years warranty on this too.

No throttling due to heat like my original (cheaper) nvme ssd (with no heatsink). 6 month in and so far everything running great and it was super easy to install.

I was constantly at the limit of my PS5's storage, and as someone who takes a long time to compele games, it was frustrating to have to regularly delete games I was still playing to try new ones. After deciding to upgrade the SSD, I was deliberating between all the different brands and the 1TB, 2TB, 4TB options, then decided to go with 4TB and choose the official recommendation to keep things simple. I didn't want to have to think about upgrading again any time soon. Although the price is a bit hefty, this has done exactly what I need it to and I'm very happy with it - it's very fast and has massive storage. I've downloaded a bunch of new games to add to my backlog and I've not even filled it by half yet, so this will likely serve me for as long as I have my PS5. The hardest part was actually just getting the case of the PS5 off in order to install it - I looked up videos to help with that. Keep in mind you may need to purchase a specific screwdriver / SSD installation tools to install it, if you don't already have them.

I bought this my PS5, it was so easy to install, took five minutes, the read/write is extremely fast, and the difference its made os incredible, I've installed all my ps4 and ps5 games and I've a lot ! But now no more uninstalling a game to play another. Highly recommend! 5 stars !

Works a treat in my MacMini dock. Gives me that extra drive with plenty of storage. Easy to handle and install.

This product had been removed from its packaging and replaced in an amateur fashion with the driver outside the plastic packaging. Luckily it appears to test as a good item. But at best it is a returned item. Pretty disappointing.

Lo he comprado para mi PS5 Slim versión digital. Solo compro juegos digitales porque me es más cómodo que tener que cambiar de disco y me gusta tener toda mi biblioteca descargada para no tener que esperar si un día me apetece jugar a algo en concreto. He comprado la versión de 4Tb a 294,98 € aprovechando la oferta de Black Friday. La instalación es muy sencilla, tan solo hay que retirar la tapa superior de la consola y desatornillar una tapita metálica donde irá el SSD. Luego se retira la arandela que también está atornillada. Y esto es importante, primero se coloca la arandela, luego se conecta el SSD que va a quedar inclinado hacia arriba (presionamos ligeramente con el dedo para bajarlo) y luego el tornillo. Si colocas el SSD y luego la arandela con el tornillo corres el riesgo de dañar el disco por apretarlo. Luego volvemos a colocar la tapita, atornillamos, colocamos la carcasa de la consola de nuevo y listo. Super sencillo. El disco es muy rápido, la PS5 lo reconoce de inmediato y puedes elegir que los juegos que te descargues se instalen directamente en él o si lo prefieres trasladar los que ya estén instalados en el disco que venía con la consola. La velocidad como digo es muy rápida. Instalando varios Call of Duty desde el menú de juego (no desde la PS Store) me pedía que se instalaran en el disco de la consola y no me dejaba elegir el disco añadido, así que trasladé varios juegos del disco de la consola al que añadí yo. Algo más de 100 Gb copiados en apenas 30 segundos; si es al revés es algo más lento pero apenas 3 o 4 minutos para mover una cantidad de gigas similar. Una pasada. Para jugar igual, no se nota ningún problema. Me ha parecido un producto muy bueno y lo recomiendo para los que nos gusta tener todo en digital ya descargado en la consola. Ten en cuenta además que se le puede añadir un disco externo pero solo para almacenaje y no para jugar. Éste que se instala internamente funciona igual que el que viene con la consola y se puede jugar directamente a los juegos instalados ahí. De momento entre los dos discos pues tengo casi 5 Tb y tengo instalados 69 juegos de PS5 entre los dos discos y aún me sobran 1,67 Tb en el disco añadido (el de la consola está prácticamente lleno y solo tiene 7 Gb libres). Lo recomiendo totalmente, la verdad. Ojalá el de 8Tb se abaratara porque algún día llenaré el de 4 Tb ya que los juegos hoy día ocupan demasiado pero ahora mismo es excesivamente caro (946,29 € el de 8Tb y no voy a pagar por un disco más del doble de lo que me costó la consola). Los juegos de PS4 los puedes tener almacenados en un disco externo conectado por usb y jugar desde ahí, así no te ocupan espacio en la consola.

La SSD è eccellente, davvero non serve dire di più. L'installazione super veloce e super facile, davvero la questione di qualche minuto; ci si mette di più ad aprire la scocca della console che ad inserire la memoria esterna. Alla prima accensione dopo l'installazione, il sistema informa automaticamente della necessità di formattare la memoria prima di procedere; premendo OK (e poi di nuovo OK per l'avviso che la formattazione eliminerà tutto ciò che è già presente sulla SSD) il sistema della console procede da sola fino alla fine. Ho aggiunto delle foto dei vari messaggi, spero siano utili. Ho la SSD da mesi ormai (da gennaio, se non sbaglio, quindi nove mesi) e non ho mai avuto problemi con lo scaricare giochi o salvataggio di screenshot e/o video di gioco.
