Great for outdoor work in heat or hot spaces.
This vest has about 30 squares on both sides that are activated and fill with water. You freeze it in a freezer until all squares are solid. Vest is adjustable and comes with additional strap pieces to add if adjusting for a larger person. You are supposed to wear this over a shirt. Preferably cotton. It needs to be snug against your chest/ abdomen and back. If wearing correctly it keeps your core temperature low which keeps your entire body from overheating. It will stay cool for about 1-2 hours depending on your activity. I’ve used it once while doing yard work and it was 92 degrees. I stayed quite comfortable the entire time and the vest did stay frozen / cool for about 1.5 hours but it was thawed out by the time I finished. Can be cleaned but follow instructions that come with vest. It’s a very simple concept but it works.

Great for school crossing guards
I bought 2 of these so I can swap them out for my 2 different shifts. Helps me avoid heat stroke. I live in southern Az where the temps are around 103-115 in the summer. It stays frozen nearly my entire one hour shift. It’s melted but cold my last 10 minutes. I work 2 schools with back to back shifts. So I keep in the teacher lounge freezer and I swap them before heading to my next school. I keep one in my home freezer and one at my first school. I also bought cooling bandannas. I like that this is fabric instead of ice packs it’s more conforming to the body. Because it’s fabric and not plastic it doesn’t get hot and sticky once melted.

Sticky
Whatever chemical they use in these little pouches, to form the ice after soaking, gets sticky. Just handling it, I felt the slime on my hands. I said it aside for a few hours, and it’s still a slimy. Gross.

Temporary relief
I hate to leave a bad review but I wore it during hot days in NYC last summer and the coldness only lasted for around 30 + mins or so

Very cold on skin
These soak up water fast and last a long time once frozen. Works great with a barrier between contact with skin. On direct skin contact it gets very cold and unbearable quickly, awesome for quickly cooling down though.

Doesn’t stay cold for long
I like that it’s black and you don’t have to individually place ice packs in each packet but you’re not going to get 2-3 hours of cold. Today, central air is broken and it stayed cold for a little over an hour and I was never outside! But, it’s affordable and I didn’t want to pay hundreds for a few day fix.

Great for 100 degree days
I drive a public school bus. With no air conditioner. This best has been a life saver for the hot days of a new school year. Easy to soak and freeze overnight. Ready for my afternoon bus route. Love it!!!

Buy the other one
They have one that is double the price, double the weight and double effectiveness. Spend your money wisely and buy that one instead of this one. This one is only good for about 30 minutes max. The bigger one stays cold for hours.
