I spent 25 years with NASA and one of my functions was graphics. So I can tell you this is a super reproduction of what we always called the "NASA Meatball." It is the original logo from the fifties, which was later changed to the red NASA word mark, then changed back again by a, let's say unsettled, NASA administrator. Many in NASA have modified this design to be more modern by simply deleting the blue background and making the white letters and design into blue on a plain white background. I'd love to find one like that.

Cute patch! The only downside is that its not an iron on but I don’t really mind :)!
