Love the ability to have everything catch and just dump it in the trash and easy to wipe clean. I didn’t like how it was supposed to not lift on the corners and was to lay flat, mine just kept lifting causing it to be more hazardous than helpful!

My child no longer wants to sit in one place to eat so I wanted a splat mat for other reasons, although I do have hope she will see it as a picnic area for messy foods and sit on it to contain those messes! I wanted a mat for her to do sensory play, like play dough, sand, slime, shaving cream, etc. Most mats seem to be on the smaller side so I was really impressed when I opened this one up to see how large it is. My child is about 38", 32lb in this photo for reference. It shakes off easily, wipes up easily, so I haven't needed to try it in the washing machine yet. It is very lightly padded to keep it in place but that also makes it nice for sitting on. I would absolutely buy this again.
