MISSION Cooling UPF Boonie Hat - Unisex Sun Hat for Hiking, Beach & Fishing - Sweat & Water Activated Technology

I bought this hat just before spending a couple weeks in Cancun & it was perfect for my trip! From a long day walking around the ruins of Tulum to swimming in cenotes & hanging out at the pool this hat was everything I needed & wanted! I’m a big hat guy, I love wide brimmed hats that keep my head cool, keep the sweat off my brow & most importantly keep the sun off my face & This is by far my favorite hat so far. The brim is just wide enough to keep the sun off your face neck & ears but not too wide, it’s stiff enough to stay out of your vision but still folds up so it’s portable, the mesh on top keeps your head nice & cool but doesn’t allow it to get burned, it washes easily & dries quickly. The only bad thing I have to say is in regards to the “cooling technology”. Mission would have you believe that wetting their products & then wringing them out magically turns the hat into an air conditioner on top of your head…HAAAA! Not even close. The hat is “cool” for about 1 minute but then it warms up just like anything else would. That said, if you’re looking for a rugged, stylish portable boonie hat to keep the sun off your face & head then look no further.

This hat is great for working outside on those hot days. It is very light and vented, it wicked the sweat away to keep it from rolling down on my face, especially into the eyes. I soaked it in cold water for a few minutes, gave it a squeeze, then put it on, and I loved it! The only minor con I can think of is that it is a little too tight for me. I wish it was a tad larger, but I think that it was design that way to help to wick the sweat away from my forehead.

Great hat. It arrived just in time for our heat wave we just went thru. My husbands loved it. He poor cold water on hat and keeps him cool in the hot humid south weather we have. Great fit. Washes well good value

At the end of the day, anything that keeps you cooler and helps you avoid heat exhaustion or worse, sun stroke, is a major benefit. I play a lot of golf, in both hot weather and the rain, and this helps in both cases. The wide brim provides protection in both cases and it's light enough to roll up and pack without taking up a lot of space. Another benefit is that you can soak it and then wear it to assist in an even quicker cooling. I guess there's not a lot you can say about a "hat" but if you spend a lot of time outside in the warmer weather, it's one that's better to have and not need, than to need it and not have it. I did notice them on sale at Lowes the other day, but they were more expensive than they are online. You just have to wait a little longer for them to arrive. :)

This hat is perfect for my hubby golfing or doing yard work. It has the cooling effect if you wet it. It allows air to flow thru, for cooling the head and its very light weight & comfortable. Keeps damaging sun rays off of his head, too. It quickly became his favorite! Easy to fold up, if desired. Roll it up, stick it in your pocket. Looks great. Great value.

Erroneously gave poor feedback for seller on this item - can't find a way to recall. Seller/Amazon did great for this item. Hat arrived on time. I was a little skeptical that it would be fine, since USPS crammed it in my mailbox. However, upon opening, the brim appears to be cloth over foam, and it held its expected shape. Overall, much thinner than I expected, but that is not a bad thing - far from it. It is extremely lightweight, but holds its shape. To be fair, I have yet to wet/wring/wear, and may never. Purchased for the sun shade for mowing/yardwork, etc. It is easy to adjust headband, and fit my head, but I'm only about a 6-7/8. If you have a larger size head, you may have issues with it fitting comfortably. I wear with it fully extended to largest size band. Top of hat, where it covers your bald spot inside the band, actually touches my head. But fabric is super-thin there, but still seems to keep out the sun. From the band up, it is well ventilated with a lot of tiny holes. Breathes well. Only other issue is that I might have preferred a 4" brim, vice a 3". If I am bent over, I feel the sun on my neck. Would not have minded an extra inch to help with that case. Still, I wouldn't say it was as expected, but in the long run, it is different, but better than what I envisioned when I purchased.
