Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga [4K Ultra HD] [2024]

A Masterclass of Action and spectacle. I could end the review there but this film deserves to shine in the spotlight. Stunning cinematography, and surpasses Fury road while it leaves to one side Max for a while which enables the story to enter new territory , And why not. As a long time fan of Mad Max I was interested to see what George Miller and his team could come up with. knowing this is a prequel and stars two great main actors Anya Taylor and Chris Hemsworth makes it particularly exciting. With great Vistas and wide distant shots it looks stunning and really draws you in from the start. I think the trailer was misleading in a way, it didn't really portray the Awesome spectacle of it all which is a shame as maybe more people would have been drawn to the cinema to watch one of the best examples of Post Apocalyptic Action Scale in modern cinema history. Warner Brothers, put out a new trailer get this film back in the cinema ( it deserves a big screen) I for one would also welcome a Furiosa 2. Furiosa And The Fury Roader.

One of the best action movies of all time and in my opinion the best of the mad max movies. So gutted I never watched it in cinemas, but the special features included are really interesting also to see how this masterpiece was made.

George Miller returns to give us the story of how Furiosa became the person we met in Mad Max, Fury Road. This being a prequel to that means you can watch this if you haven't seen any Mad Max movies. Not easy to talk about this without potentially mild spoilers. So be aware.. This is a good example of why you shouldn't go into things with expectations. Because action chase movie a la Fury Road this isn't quite. It's a different beast. It gets all it's exposition out the way quickly in the opening credits. Then you meet Furiosa. In the place where you would expect. Action follows right away. This is good action. You always know who is who and what is going on. It's a little distracting though that not all of this seems to be location based. Some of it looks studio bound. It's far more convincing than if it was entirely digital. But I still couldn't help but notice it. However one character in this part makes a commanding impression. As does Chris Hemsworth as gang leader Dr. Dementus. He is amazing in this role. One of those performances when an actor goes close to the edge but never over it, thus every line and gesture commands your attention. I like the accent he used as well. Prequels of course exist to tell back story, so this then has a lot to get in. With some possibly familiar and some not so familiar locations. So there is action. There is also a lot of talk. Pretty compelling stuff mostly though. She grows up, with a few plans in mind. This clicked for me sporadically in the first half. I was liking it's ambition. But I wasn't loving it. But then probably about halfway through, in the middle of an action scene, I suddenly thought 'wow this is pretty awesome as a set piece, isn't it?'. And it was. We do also get Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack, who is utterly magnificent as well. Thanks to his character being superbly and very appealingly stoic. Anya Taylor-Joy, and those playing younger Furiosa, don't have much dialogue. Their performances need to use expression. But you can always tell what's going on in their mind, so they are very good. It does get a bit more into action in it's second half. There is one bit that was a bit too obviously green screen, but this does seem to be more location based. There is very little dialogue in some of these, as it's trying to let the action speak for itself. Which, once I'd realised that, does rather work. The film does have an interesting narrative structure, which succeeds at what it tries to do. This does make the passing of time work. The ending is really good. Some very well written dialogue in it. And I think the very final scene is quite successful too. Rather an 8/10 film for me. Like all prequels, not least a certain Star Wars trio, it does exist to tell it's back story and nothing more. So it doesn't quite have the drive of Fury Road and thus I wasn't into it quite as much as I was with that. But it was a good experience in many ways, so I'm glad I saw it. There are things going on during the end credits. But they are not essential. The dvd goes into the main menu with no ads or trailers. Language and subtitle options: Languages: English. IMHO an awesome prequel to “Fury Road “ , a great addition to the whole “Mad Max -films”.

Excellent action packed DVD and great price.

I didn't have high expectations with this movie Due to the "too many" predictable heroic female orientated, PC friendly Hollywood movies that seem to be being made these days. Fortunately I was wrong. I thoughly enjoyed being proved wrong. I watched Fury road the Day before watching this just to refresh my mind. But, because of the way this storyline is laid out, there was no need to. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because of the obvious green screen part's. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be too many, plus the story soon takes your mind from them. I thought that I could predict part's of the storyline of the movie, again, I was proved wrong. Excellent work. Will be watching it again.

Brilliant movie and great story

Les disques sont vraiment difficile à sortir de leur étuis les bonus sont issus du DVD MGM et ressortie en Blu Ray zone A Mad Max le phénomène il y a des sous titres Français l'accent australien c'est difficile comme quoi l'absence de bonus sur le 4k.... Montre que Warner ne fais pas beaucoup d'efforts c'est dommage l'autre bonus c'est la folie de Max,il manque le bonus Mel Gibson naissance d'une superstar Il y a furiosa en version black and chrome heureux qu'il soit là vu le prix

Do' 5 stelle perché il film mi e' molto piaciuto , secondo me e' ben fatto e quindi riuscito con una trama semplice diretta e anche logica ma mai scontata senza complicazioni inutili ne complessità varie , senza alcuna lacuna infatti non si perde mai il filo logico . L'azione e' la protagonista che scorre fluida veloce e rabbiosa senza sentimenti su scenari e ambienti devastati e di degradazione , senza interruzioni di sorta in tensione fino alla fine. Furiosa si lega benissimo al precedente film Fury Road ( e molto degnamente a tutta la saga di Mad Max ) . Visionario Brutale con riferimenti Storici azzeccati , stereotipi umani che si ripetono . Miller non lascia scampo all'umanità , gli tira fuori il peggio ( si può sempre scavare in miniera ) non c'e' speranza di ritornare indietro a casa e di salvezza !

I was blown away when I saw this prequel. It's essential "must have," and the blu ray does the movie justice. The disc arrived quickly, and it hit the screen the very same day. Wow, money well spent...
