More bang for your buck than anything else in this price range
I looked at alot of DVD players and was disappointed in most of what I saw. Some went straight to the video instead of to the menu, some had an audio lag, some were painfully slow to start, and some had unintuitive remote controls. I was especially disappointed with all of the Sony DVD players I looked at. For this and other products Sony has really gone downhill. This Panasonic player loads quickly, sets up easily, opens the menu, the remote has alot of buttons but it is easy to learn, it doesn't generate heat, and basically it does everything it is supposed to do better than many other brands. It does upconvert, not all the way to 1080 (none of them do due to the original quality of the recording), but the picture is better than I expected and there are no artifacts like in other upconverting DVD players. It works through my eARC connections (when I turn the DVD player on my TV also turns on and selects the correct HDMI port on my TV, plus it turns my soundbar on in the correct sound mode), and my TV adds some additional upconversion. It should note that I have a newer 4K TV and I use certified 8K HDMI cables. Since this is installed in an enclosed cabinet, I installed an IR repeater with an outside the cabinet sensor and this player and remote control have no problem with IR response at all. I am very happy with the quality and operation, specially given the price of this DVD player.

Good product to play CD's...
After doing some research, I purchased this dvd player to play CD's. It does a good job playing the CD's that I tried out...no skipping and good sound quality. Easy to hook up to my audio receiver. Good price for the product. I recommend buying NEW in case issues arise.

Great DVD Player!
I have been extremely pleased with this purchase. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. It is easy to use which helps! There are plenty of features to please electronic aficionados. I would purchase this item again.

Poor Performing DVD Player.
Very poor product. Does not play classic DVDs very well. The picture turned out to be a very, very, small ribbon across the middle of my TV screen, and adjusting the format only made it worse, exploding most of the picture off of the viewable tv screen. I cannot overemphasize how SMALL the ribbon of picture was, it was ridiculous. I know it was the DVD player because I purchased a Sony DVD player on Amazon afterward that cost a little more but plays the DVDs perfectly. I did not send it back, but I definitely should have, I do not recommend this product at all.

GREAT DVD Player
I bought TWO of these DVD players. The first one I bought was on December 3, 2016. I liked it so much that I bought a second one on November 12, 2017. I put that one in the attic in case the first one I bought failed but so far so good. I've been using the first one now for a year and a half and have had absolutely no problems with it. It is VERY simple to set up. You have to have either an HDMI cable AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable, 6 Feet, 1-Pack or an RCA Audio Video Cable RCA Cable Audio Video Cable 3 RCA to RCA Male to Male M/Mx3 for Old TV Gold Plated - Red and White Yellow Cable (6Feet(1.8m)) to connect it to your TV. "Older" TVs use the RCA cable. Newer TVs use the HDMI cable. I already had an HDMI cable so I was all set and my TV is eight years old. Then you just plug the DVD player into a regular wall socket and you're up and running. Just two simple connections and that's it. All I wanted was a simple DVD/CD player with none of the hassle of all the "frills" and I got it. Make sure you buy the player with "1080p upscaling." This upconverts a DVD player to 1080p to get the best HD picture, almost as good as Blu-ray.. I have a Panasonic 42" 1080 flat panel TV and the picture is great with this DVD player. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a clock but I really don't need one. What a bargain for 50 bucks!!!

YES, IT PLAYS CD's WELL
I have been struggling with a 20 year old Sony 200 disc carousel CD player for a few years now, cleaning and re cleaning CDs, using a "lens cleaner" disc, etc, etc, with marginal results. So, I decided to use the Sony to store and catalog 200 discs for accesss and but a single disc player. Unfortunately, as most find out, audio component CD players are absurdly expensive and VERY overpriced. I was about to pay more than $200 for one until I explored the option of buying a DVD player that plays CDs. I was skeptical, but recognized that the market for DVD players is declining as fast as the market for CD players did. I bought this one, paying about $30 from Warehouse Deals. I plugged it in, connected the audio out jacks and MAGIC. Not only did it play the discs but coupled with my Yamaha CD direct and pure sound receiver, it played them far better than the Sony ever did. Unless you are in need of a player which can read the most expensive discs, do not hesitate to buy this one. Panasonic is a great company and has pride in nearly everything they produce (with the exception of their sketchy history on bluetooth earphones), and this simple, inexpensive device is no different. If you need a component CD player and want to save some money to apply to speakers or a receiver, etc, do not hesitate. Try it. I predict you will like it.
