Works well for low sodium diets
This worked great in my chocolate chip cookies. There's a smell when you first open the oven but it dissipates. I am on a low sodium diet and this helps me continue to make baked goods that I can enjoy.

Def NOT a Baking Powder Substitute
Just make sure you use this in a dish that has all moisture evaporate during cooking so the ammonia leaves, otherwise you're gonna have that lingering. Still really good product and quality though.

Essential For Drommar & Extra-Crisp Crackers
I always try to keep a supply of baker's ammonia (ammonium bicarbonate, also known as hartshorn) on hand for making drommar, aka "Swedish Dream Cookies". This ingredient, as far as I know, is literally the only way to obtain the texture of these particular cookies. As they are a favourite in our household, we were delighted to find a larger quantity of baker's ammonia, which can be a difficult item to locate and is almost never available in any of the nearby shops. It may also be used for extra-crispy crackers and baked goods. A couple of notes for those who are unfamiliar: baker's ammonia smells horrendous whilst you're combining it with other ingredients and while it bakes. The odour completely dissipates and is no longer an irritant once it hits 140° F, however, and it is flavourless. Also, once opened it has a tendency to evaporate, meaning it must be stored in a completely airtight container. I usually vacuum seal mine in its container. This is my first experience with the brand, and I am impressed: it produced excellent cookies, performed as expected, and is offered at a reasonable price in a larger quantity than most of the competition. Highly recommened!
