Very well made it would appear. It is not hand carved ( has machine marks on it) but what do you expect from something this cheap. Smokes well and cool. the stand is nice. If you are worried about cracking near the stem, I did not have that happen. Just be cautious. Very pleased with my purchase

Price is great, however it appears the stem of the pipe has a slightly larger OD than that of the pipe base. As soon as you try to remove the stem, it cracks the base. After I initiated my return, I read all the reviews and this is a common problem. I like the design and the price so I am going to try another one.**Update** Received my replacement the very next day which was very fast. I was able to remove the stem and replace it this time without cracking the base by SLOWLY twisting by turning left and right by holding the base and stem right at the separation point. I believe the wiggling back and forth is what causes the cracking as they are very tight. Twisting seems to loosen it, but not very much. The stems need to be able to be removed to install the filter if you are using one.

It's a hardwood pipe so it tends to heat up quickly, but that just goes with the territory. Otherwise it's a great backup or starter pipe set. Great choice for a gift too!

it is a piece of garbage even if it were free. not a real pipe ,it broke the bowl when we put it together!
