Perfect gift for 8 year old
My son turned 8, and it's so hard to find something he wants to do besides a video game. This is a great replacement for screen time! He goes outside to take pictures of flowers for me, bugs for his dad, and has finally shown interest in something worth his time! Lots of advanced features for a kid camera, and easy to set up and use.

Slightly advanced for a 3 year old, but she doesn't care!
My grand daughter turned 3 a couple of months ago, and it's amazing to see how much she is growing up! She has finally reached the age where she understands enough about devices that I decided to pick her up a kid-friendly camera so she can start learning how to work with more complicated devices, and maybe have some fun doing it. The Kids Camera Toys for 3-8 Year Old Kids is slightly advanced for her, but she can work with the basic functions and will learn the rest over time. The camera has a cute 'cat' casing, with two molds that are easy to exchange. The construction is robust and able to take the beating that will be likely be its fate in the hands of a 3 year old. Also, it's orange, so it's a neutral color so it can be used for boys are girls. The buttons are large enough to be easily manipulated by pudgy fingers, and the colors on the LCD are bright and high contrast, so a child can distinguish between different functions without problems. The camera comes with a 32GB SD card that can be used for photos or videos. The camera also has the ability to switch the view so that selfies can be taken. As well, there a lot of special effects that can be added to the pictures, which will delight my grand daughter (and really annoy her mother! Win-win!). The camera includes a rechargeable battery, several games and the ability to add "funny frames' around the pictures. This is a toddler delight! My grand daughter loves feeling like a grown-up with her own personal camera! Highly recommended!

Cute and functional
This little camera is packed with features, some of which may be beyond a 5-year-old, but likely accessible to an 8-year-old. Be aware, the camera's cuteness may appeal much more to a some girls than to some boys. Luckily, the silicone cartoon covers are removable, and the camera is functional without them (excepting that the camera strap attaches to the covers). Photos are saved in 1080p, but the colors are a bit muted when taken in artificial light (no flash, of course). Video is saved in lower resolution 640x480 VGA. Pressing the power button brings up the application screen accompanied by a pleasing chime. The applications are: * Photo, which includes a selfie mode, and 44 different filters of various colors, fun and goofy overlays and frames, and what can best be described as "fun house" distortions * Video, which also includes a selfie mode, along with various fun color filters of B&W, red, negative or X-ray, green, and blue. * Playback, for photos and video * Settings, which includes things like a photo delay/capture timer, language (12 choices), auto off, date/time (in international format and military time). * Games, including 6 simple games like Snake, Push the Box, Maze, etc. * MP3 Music, which has to be loaded onto the mini-SD card from an external source Navigation is by simple up/down/left/right buttons, the on/off button (which also serves as the "back" button), and the shutter button (which also serves as the "select" button). Battery life is good, but not great. After charging all night, I only got 4 out of 5 bars, and after taking a few videos and 30 or so pictures, the battery was at 2 bars. That may be a bit deceptive because I was able to take a lot more pics/videos and battery life stayed at 2 bars. Battery life is not displayed on the "home" screen, so you have to select the photo, video or playback button to see it. The main drawback of the playback app is the delete function. You can only delete one pic or video at a time. The instructions are sparse but useable, but the main means of learning how to use the camera will be by using the camera. With a little adult instruction, this little camera should provide lots of entertainment to youngsters. The original price may be a little steep for some. That, battery life, and the delete function are the main reasons for 4 stars. The camera comes with two silicone cartoon covers, a shoulder strap, and a USB-A charging cable (no wall charger).

2.5 year old loves camera
The camera has a lot of functionality and different applications built in (camera, video, games), and even has a setting to take a selfie (very cool for younger kids who may not understand the concept of taking a picture yet). We bought it because my son is obsessed with playing with our professional camera, and we thought this would be the perfect toy for him. We've barely scratched the surface on all the camera can do, and have mostly just used it for picture taking. When my son got it, he immediately started taking pictures of all his toys one by one. If your child is on the younger side, assistance will likely be needed to get them to the application that takes pictures (and also help with learning to use the camera). The camera seems to be very durable and it comes with a protective, removable silicone-like case around it. My son has swung the camera around and dropped it without issues. Additionally, comes with a detectable, adjustable strap that allows the camera to sit around your neck (or of course you could just hold it by the straps or easily remove for younger kids).

Excellent camera for kids
My preschooler loves the functionality and different options for this camera. The pictures are OK (not super clear, but it's for kids!). I love that it is durable, and the battery charge lasts for a long time. It is a fun way for kids to try photography and see what they think is interesting.
