Interesting stories, but many dark and tough
I bought this book for my 5 year old son, thinking it would be similar to "Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls", which he loves. Unfortunately, this is not the same as that fairytale, short story-type book. The stories in this book are quite in depth and descriptive, including some topics that are hard to explain to a young kid - details of the abuse that Beethoven suffered at the hands of his father, many mentions of violent deaths and living on. They are well-written, but far more appropriate to much older kids- I would say adolescents or teens would be more ideal. The illustrations are excellent and the choices of men to discuss are broad, but I will be putting this away for quite some time after being shocked in reading the first few stories.

Inclusion/exclusion of subjects
I recently purchased both the English and French versions of this book. I was surprised to see that there are only 77 entries in the English edition, but 100 entries in the French. I am curious about the decision process excluding such notables as Thomas Edison, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Mohammed Ali, and John Carlos and Tommie Smith, among others. Since the books were purchased to be used in a classroom in order to show the students how children all over the world are reading the same books, I know I will get questions.

Is this a kids book?!
A bit intense for kids...stories included child abuse, parents brutally murdered, child slavery, etc (not all but a bunch). Granted it shows resilience, but yowza. More appropriate for older kids.

Love
I bought this to read to my class of 8th Graders once a week. Surprisingly it wasn't too babyish for them. They actually enjoy the stories and love the colorful pictures. I'm extremely grateful that there is a book like this for boys because they are often forgotten. Although it is fair to conclude that most History books are about men and that girls are at a disadvantage, positive male role models are seldom highlighted and it is easy for boys to follow the wrong ones. About a year ago I searched online for a book for boys similar to Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls and others. I couldn't find anything and it was discouraging.I'm happy I've found this one!

My son loves this book
Such healthy examples of strong men. I'm a single mom. My sons father isn't around at all so I wanted a book of examples of strong men who changed the world for the better. I think their could have been a better example than jeffree star as a man in makeup because of his past but I'm glad that it was depicted in general.

Good book
I really like this spin off the rebel stories for girls for my son. My only issue is being of a more nonviolent type of parent, there are some stories I would rather wait to read to my 7year old. Otherwise, great book, super inspirational men to be inspired by to ignite our boys own sense of wonder on how they can help our world and societies.

⭐️ Features a Diverse Selection of Accomplished Boys/Men.⭐️
Purchased this book as a bedtime storybook for my 11 year old and it is perfect for him. Features a diverse selection of accomplished boys/men. The stories are a page each, are well-written, and feature a colorful illustration that goes along with each story. I would say that the age range for the book is 10 years and up. The stories might be a little too deep for a younger audience. Both the cover and pages are made of quality materials. My son and I both really enjoy reading this book. Highly recommend.

A wonderful, empowering book
We had gotten our older daughter each of the "Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls" books, and were looking for stories to read to our preschool son that were empowering to him. These stories are exactly what I was wanting - they're unique, varied, and don't all fit into the prescribed roles that are put on boys by society. It's a great book, and I hope they make more!

Victim hood pushing nonsense
I am a liberal UK Guardian reader and I really hated this book. I was looking for strong and different role models and while some of the stories are good, they are usually too superficial to be interesting and often play to a very stereotypical story of an example of a minority overcoming some imposed struggle to be accepted by society. Teaching boys what? That if you are ‘different’ then you will be perceived by society as ‘wrong’, will have to undergo some trauma before you’re accepted. Oh please. What victim hood. Wasted opportunity. I took particular acception to the transsexual/transgender stories about the boys ‘having to wear girls clothes and act like a girl even though they were really boys born in girls bodies’. Just so weak.

Best Book we own (and our house is full of books like a library!)
I love this book.My 10 year old son, loves this book.Everyday he is excited to read a few more pages, and doesn’t want to put it down. The book is a collection of stories about inspiring, mainly famous people and something they have done to change the world. 1 person per page.We both learn something new from every single page. And everyone that is written about in the book is so inspiring, and reading their stories instills upon my son things I have always taught, to be kind, to do good, to speak out and to be who you are without worrying about judgement.Every page brings on a new conversation about history or kindness or a ‘taboo’ subject and this is what I really love most about the book, that as well as reading you’re talking and learning.I have no bad points about this book.We have a house full of books, we all love to read, and yet this is the most amazing, inspiring book we have, and I’m so glad I brought it for my son.It is quite simply, an awesome read.

Disappointing
Having read “good night stories for rebel girls” (1 and 2) this was a massive disappointment. It is so badly written, probably because it was rushed, some of the entries are useless and sometimes leaves the reader not knowing who or what they did/do.

Must read book for boys
Bought this book for my 11 year old boy and he really enjoyed it. The book gives kids a very positive message and teaches them to be understanding and accepting whilst also making them realise the can achieve their dreams and aspirations.

Inspiring role models!
Beautifully designed book with great pictures and inspirational stories! I think it’s great value as it has a lot of content that provides good role models for Kids. It’s going to be given as a gift. I’d say it’s ideal for older children aged around 8+ and young teenagers.
