Great kit, get ready to tinker.
First things first, anyone who is truly a beginner may struggle with this. A beginner can get this to work, but you will have to learn and stay patient. Technically you can slap this bad boy together in a few hours, however this isn't an out of the box RC car that will just work with no effort. Kuman has built a huge bridge for you to get into robotics. This product is best for someone happy to tinker until they figure it out. You need little knowledge of the science on how this works or what makes it work. You simply need to read the diagrams and put it together. You will see many negative reviews about this product and I do not feel that they are fair. I am blown away at how well this kit is developed. You have tons of goodies in their software and access to the source code so you can grow and learn. The supporting documents are not great and Googling the problems won't help much. Stick to Kuman's website and their “Support and Tutorials” section. The product shipped quickly and arrived on time. The condition was perfect upon arrival. I was even pleased to see how well the kit was packed. The shield that fits onto the pi came in anti-static bag <3.Building the car is straight forward, however if this is your first project it may take you some time to get it all put together. Wiring the motors isn't hard but you will need to know how to wire them parallel. I used my own wires (black and red) and soldered them on, although I guess you could just twist them on, but that will eventually lead to connection issues as well as one yellow color to try and figure out which one is which. You will need a raspberry pi to complete the build so if you don't have one yet you should order one. I did this build with a pi 3, I am not sure about the B+ . The B+ needs a little more power to boot so for simplicity I'd recommend you build this with just a pi 3.The instructions will be tough for any native English speaker. They are in a tiny font and written in a curious manner. The steps for getting the software to work are very vague and skip one very important issue; the install of software. I used a PC and the files that came with the disk are compressed in some areas. You will need to navigate through the folders and get into the software driver->control software and then unpack the files and have them extract in place.Once the files are unpacked you can navigate into the folder and find the executable file to run. Run the .exe and the software should fire up. The software will initiate in Chinese so click the language tab(that part is in Chinese and English) and select English.Follow the instructions about connecting your wifi to the car (see bottom of instructions). Once connected you can select your “Control Mode ” in the software. Now you should be up and running.Kuman really does make a nice product I think their only problem (for USA buyers) is getting the customers to understand how to set the product up.

fine if you want to build as is
there is very little documentation in English. so if you want to move on and make it do other things. good luck to you. i can't figure out how to get any of the ser pins to work so for my own code i have to use the led and ir pins. i have no idea why. so if you are an electronics expert and just want a bot to play with this is a good option. but if you want to use this to learn i would look for something else.
