This worked well for my application. I needed it for the belly coat and mats on my Giant Schnauzer who has an extra thick perhaps even super coat that easily mats. The standard tooth arrangement wouldn't penetrate the matted spots to cut them cleanly. I would caution an inexperienced person choosing this type of blade to be very careful how close you are cutting to the skin as this type of tooth makes it very easy to nick the dog in sensitve areas like skin tags and or nipples or skin that is pulled up while trying to cut a mat which of course makes it more difficult to groom the dog later. As with all the all metal blades you also need to pay attention to how hot the blade gets and use your Kool spray lubricant often or change the blade often to let the used blade cool down.

Love these blades. If you are grooming professionally, you need to have them on hand.

I have to replace this blade on my clippers somewhat frequently because doing my two dogs monthly wears it out and I have not found a way to resharpen them. I use this one first because it will cut through matted hair much easier than the finish cut blade. So I do a quick cut with this all over the body and legs and thin on the face. Then I switch to the same number blade but a finish cut. Using this skip tooth saves the dog from any unnecessary pain due to pulling of the matted hair. Be careful using it on the ears because of the gap in the skip tooth you can nick the edges of the ears and also the skin between the belly and the leg. This fairly easily slips on and snaps in place on the clippers. I have not been able to put height combs on this one but I can put them on the same number finished cut blade.

I have 2 goldendoodles with different coats. Used for both. Cuts through very matted hair and rougher curls. Wouldn’t be without these blades now.

Exactly what you want in a blade. It arrived well oiled so was ready to fit straight on the clippers. Nice and sharp. Appears to be a high quality steel so should last for years. Easy to change on my Andis clipper so I would assume the same for compatible brands. Can be sent off to be re-sharpened when needed. There are several firms providing this service. Good value for money. Definitely not worth wasting your money on unknown brands when you can purchase the brand preferred by many professional dog groomers, for only a couple of quid more. You only have to look at the high number of poor reviews against the cheap ones to see the sense in buying better. As I expect the cheap blades and clippers are all bought by DIY groomers like me, if they are failing after a couple of months then can only have been used a handful of times. This Andis blade will last for years for us DIY groomers making it good value for money.
