Though in the product description, it has been claimed to be of free size, but I discovered the delivered product to be of smaller size and therefore, till now I am struggling with the fit.

I have a hard time with hats - they are generally too small. This one is great, lightweight and nicely shaped. The ONLY downside is the word Columbia is in dark grey letters and my older one was light grey. Not thrilled to sport their name on my head but otherwise really like it.
