Lamy Safari Fountain Pen Charcoal Broad

I read in the media that fountain pen sales and usage are currently increasing year on year. I would think that pens like this have a lot to do with this increase. OK, it does not have the build quality and oiled-silk smoothness of a pen costing 20 or 30 times as much, but - for the price of a pub lunch - you get a seriously effective writing instrument. This pen is light, comfortable to hold and is a real pleasure to write with. Much better than a ballpoint pen! One point to note: I normally use a broad nib on my pens, and this one seems to be a bit broader and wetter than others I have. It may be that Lamy's nib grading is slightly different to others. Not a problem, but something to be aware of.

Excellent value, amazing one. Comfortable to use, dries quickly. Great quality. I bout a second one in case I misplace this one.

Although I've owned a few Safaris, Al-Stars and Vistas, I think this is my favourite. My first Broad Lamy nib (if you don't count the 1.1mm italic), the one on this pen is beautifully smooth, and the matt Charcoal finish is not done justice by photographs. A writing experience far better than the modest price of the pen would suggest.

Lovely pen. The nib is not quite as broad as I's hoped, but the smooth ink flow can't be faulted. Tasteful minimalist design. The weight and material is also good for a pen of this price. My only gripe are the somewhat odd grip indents which I personally find uncomfortable. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars.

Not much to say. Lamy delivers

Having read rave reviews for this very reasonably priced pen, and being a fountain pen addict, wanted to add this to my collection. Unfortunately I have either got a bad one, or this pen is just not very good. On first filling, it was very skippy. I emptied and cleaned the pen and converter before refilling, but this didn't help either. It's a shame because it's a nice pen and the nib is very smooth, but if ink doesn't come out of it, it's not really worth having.

La calidad de Lamy Safari es indiscutible.
